    Hi All
This is something i have been working on since the beginning of Nov. Its my first bust sculpt and its of Edward the Black prince. I got the idea when i visited Canterbury Cathedral last year and saw his tomb. Its made from super sculpy and milliput and i intend to make molds and cast it in resin

I think that the brodery is to thick (the lions).
In my humble opinion you can better paint them.
You have to define the lion better on the crest.
But you are on the right way.

Hi Megroot i thank you for your opinion but the heraldry on his sucoat was quilted on. if you have a look at the original, which i have, it is quite pronounced. on this figure it is less than a millimetre thicker than the surcoat

    Nice Paul, great sculpt!

Last year I was working in the archives at Canterbury cathederal and had the chance to handle one of the knuckle studs from the Black Prince's gauntlets.

    All the best!

    Cheers,
    Jon.

It would be good to see the left arm carrying a shield, even if only the top of the shield is modelled. I would also put him on a pedestal with his coat of arms on the front!

    Happy modelling,

    Mike

    Hi Mike
yeah i thought about a shield but decided against it as it would cover up to much of the bust, i like your idea of the coat of arms on the pedistal though, thats something to think about

If you're not giving him a shield, perhaps the coat of arms on the pedestal could be in the form of a small shield?
