Here is the latest figure I have completed. It is an excellent white metal kit by Young with awesome sculpting and a lot of detail. It is the first Viking I have painted, probably not the last. I obtained this kit when Guy left me alone in his figure room. :)

Beautiful Work Mike. The extra snow application made the difference in the groundwork. The figure's shading of the cape is excellent. The best flesh I have seen you do. Oils? or acrylics?

I'll have to put my guard cat "Cato" back into training. She was supposed to attach her teeth to your ankle as you left.

thanks for the comments Guy and thanks for the help on the groundwork. I used acrylics again after decent results on the bust and another lesson from Steve. Thanks again for all the help!

Oh BTW Cato was in on the heist, remember, everybody has a price. :)

Your picture taking skills take a back door to your painting skills, Mike. A closer look would show everyone what a quantum leap forward your painting has taken with this figure. I have told Mike, and it is the stone truth that we have not seen such a comprehensive overnight improvement around here since Sambaman took Mark Mindemans oils class. Mike is going to go far with this figure bidness.

I wondered where that empty Sardine can came from......and after you left she was all smiles.

Thanks Steve, I really appreciate the help that you and Guy have given me to get me to improve. I am just happy that I am improving my skills and hope it continues with my next project. Thanks again!!

Beautiful work over all Mike. The leathers are nice, the worn metal of the axe head is great, I also really like the way the base works its way into the groundwork. Well done!

PS - Steve, I never took Mindemen's class. Maybe I should, I'm falling behind by the looks of this work comin' out of the old stomping grounds!

I like this very much Mike, a beautiful figure, like the shadows and highlights on the cape, care to share the method you used for this?

    Cheers

I think you are very lucky if you can stay alone in the Guy's figure room :D
From what i can see this figure is for me the best you've painted ( your skill is very increasing..) beautiful colours choice , beautiful rendition of the whites and the cape is really great . Compliments !!

Thanks for the kind words fellas, they really mean a lot especially coming from some of the best painters out there. I am far from acheiving the results you guys get, I guess that is why everyone must continue to paint and improve. Tommi; for the cape I extended my acrylic colors so I could try to blend them on the cape rather than on the pallet. Again I am thankful that you guys liked the work and my progress. Thanks for commenting.

    Great painted figure Mike.
Some improvement good be that you paint the upper part of the figure lighter then the underpart what must be darker. Try that.

Really nice figure, I like the way his cloak has been painted to bring out the detail.

Out of interest where do you find info on Viking and Knights with regards to colours and motifs to paint them?

Thank you for the comment. I posted this guy 2 years ago, but it is nice to see him again. As far as finding info on knights and Vikings, I'm probably not the best at researching so I just use google and my imagination.

    Thanks again!
