Thanks for the references on this figure. I have been curious about the references involved.

I am with Robert on this subject. I LOVE Pegaso and Romeo's kits both for their quality of casting and artistic value. However I am frequently frustrated by issues of accuracy. I really like all these new releases and will purchase the new mounted figure but the Roman bust has issues and The wings on the Viking helmet have got to go. These are all things that can be fairly easily corrected but for the cost of the kits we shouldn't have to convert the kit to make it right. None of us are walking encyclopedias of uniformology but if we do our homework before we buy or build these kits we will be more selective. Again I support these manufacturers and applaud their wealth of releases (If only I had the wealth to support more of their releases!).

The viking of Pegaso is so beautiful that..I couldn't resist.. I 've bought it , even if a terrible fight is followed with my wife because I'm plenty of vikings at Home , the wings are probably just a little fantasy .. but a saga describes a viking helmet with raven wings, so there is a source for this item, the decurio equitum is also in my wish list, so it is very interesting what some planeteers experts of the roman period could explain about the historical references of the figure as Secutor did.

I waited a week hoping that someone would write something but ... vain.
I am really shocked that the subject of co-production of two firms emblazoned has received so little attention, I thought that this figure included collect more interest among the modellers. Perhaps the issue on the Roman world has little interest (and market?) Or, even more, the ancient world is a swamp in which it is difficult to move; for example, no one puts the insignia of a German unit in Stalingrad on a uniform of a soldier used at El Alamein, but are painted shields of the legionaries set in snow (Britain, Germany, Pannonia) with friezes (deigmata) units deployed in Syria or Egypt just because the picture is more beautiful and more difficult to achieve, or are carried out (and modify) helmets ever worn by that unit only because most spectacular. All this at the expense of the accuracy of the subjects.
The ancient world, contrary to popular belief, is very rich sources of real and true, often polychrome, just think of the so-called “mosaic of Magerius” from Smirat (Tunisie, in the Musèe archèologique of Sousse) which depicts a bestiarius (Spittara) who fought on stilts which is made even the shadow! (photos at page 208 of “Sangue e arena”, Editor Electa). It is certain that if these operations - similar to sculptures, reliefs, wall and vascular paints - are defined on an Italian forum “stones crudely carved by fanciful provincial stonecutters“; and trust of reconstruction drawings (more or less reliable) even that are personalized, the models are no longer able to assess the veracity of this or that subject. This is my opinion. If the realization of the figure is only a display of sculpture and painting skills to those who are good at doodles, it is useless transported into the world of modeling all the studies and research scholars.
