Here is a vignette I am working on. It depicts Medal of Honor winner John Basilone, USMC during the fighting at Guadalcanal, October 1942. It's a 1/35 scale piece. The John Basilone figure was sculpted by John Long. The dead Japanese soldier is from Bodi.

Wow! You have been busy I see. Looks great so far. Make sure you don't use the camo cover on the helmet and paint that helmet a nice dark OD. You coming to Chicago BTW? Or is this for Long Island?

Oh duh!!! Maybe you're not gonna use a helmet at all. My bad Ed.

    Thank you Dan and Patrick!!

    Danno,
I won't be going to Chitown. Too many family commitments as you well know. I will be going to the LI show for sure.
Def no camo cover and I'm still not sure about whether or not to have him wear a helmet or not. If I go with no helmet then I'd have to build up his hair a bit more. I've seen pics of John Basilone and it shows him with thicker hair. Still not sure where to go on this one.
I'm going to paint the .30 Cal MG that he would be holding tonight hopefully.

I'd go with the helmet (just my opinion). you can kinda make it look a bit off to the side of his head or pushed back on his head a bit for dramatic effect. It's totally up to you but I think if done properly would look great!

    Hey Danno,
I have to agree with you. Helmet it is. I don't think I'd be able to sculpt anything anyway. Thnx again.
Anyone have suggestions for the color of the Japanese uniform?
