    Hi everyone
I present to you my first ever properly finished piece of figure painting!

(please excuse the bust in the foreground, I suck at photography so borrowed someone else's photo of my bust at a recent model show)

I've built armor models for many years and painted the odd tank crewman, but nothing very good and nothing on this scale either. Having recently felt the desire to have a go at historical miniatures I bought this MIG bust. Its been painted rather crudely using games workshop acrylics, I used exactly the same techniques my friend uses to paint GW figures, of a dark base and the application of gradual highlights and glazes using out of the bottle products.

As a first attempt i'm incredibly happy with it, but i'm eager to here your comments and criticisms! Thanks for looking.

For your first serious attempt; you have done an excellent job.

The metal finish & detail work of the Lorica Hamata is very good, and the wolf pelt is done very well also.

Thanks for the comments guys! Really pleased you all like it.

Gordy-I certainly am! Already got Young Miniatures gladiator and legionary busts waiting in the stash, along with a few Pegaso 54mm's. I just need to tackle some more advanced finishing techniques, beyond the rather simple techniques ive used here.

It's a very commendable effort for anyone, not just a beginner.

Quick Latin lesson. :) It's signifer, not signifier. -fer in Latin is an adjectival suffix that denotes carrying, bearing or bringing. So signifer denotes someone who carries the signum (military standard).
