This time I'll try with 1/9 ( I think I'm ready to try a bit smaller scale).
Piece is inspired by book "Veli Jože" from the same writer (Vladimir Nazor) as the last bust was.
I'll try to work as Antonio suggested - not concentrating on details or limbs, but rather work from rough volume of complete piece and refining it...
For now only the pose can be seen:

Nice start

This is only 1 hour of work, I was literally "hitting" the armature with those huge muscle masses according to my anatomy map. Did not bother smoothing, blending, not even a symmetry. At the end of the process I was pretty surprised, as the darn thing took it's shape all by itself
Sure, there are errors, and the method will require more practice, but from decent distance it already looks like a human to me

Ok, I will reveal the whole story

He is a Galley slave, stepping out of the sea after his galley being sunk.
He is happy to be alive and finally free, but cursing the gods for killing all of his friends. He will have chains on both of his hands, and probably a broken paddle still atached to the chain...

the figure is based on a myth, he does look however never having suffered from this captivity, I mean..he looks verrrry healthy

I say, for expression, let him look thinner, exhausted.

but he could also be a well built galleyslave ;-)

Are you going to paint him also? I didn't know if you painted your final pieces. Man, I love where this is going and already have the finished piece pictured in my head.

I'm very bad painter, the only thing I painted was "faux bronze" on medieval warrior bust (check the thread, I posted the pics:

However, this Saturday will be modellers competition in Zagreb, and one of my friends painted "Tigar 1991" bust for that competition.
I'll post the pictures as soon as I get them...

Rene he will be thinner as the next step is "blending" and this means taking material from to much exaggerated muscles.
However I want him to look very strong...after all he is the only one that survived

I sometimes like to do this in bustes.
I found out in Goeths' bust, the mirrorscene, there were things that not immediately are shown in the movie.

I will say the sculpt is coming along nicely!

It may be the photos that make it appear so but it looks as though he is planting too much weight on his forward leg specifically at the knee. Its a very uncomfortable pose to hold for too long because of the amount of pressure exerted on the knee.

If the shin angle is reduced it will help, or possibly adjusting it to make it appear as though he is "falling" more so.

You could also raise the knee more, that would also stabilize him.

It may seem to some like a fussy comment however I think the knee is actually a key element of the pose as it will dictate the amount of "strength" and thus "anger" in the pose.
