    Hello All,
The painting has started on this panzerfaust pair. That being a youth and an old Volksturm armed with only panzerfaust.there is a haunting uncertainty that has come about in the expression I think. The primary colours are the basis for this bust.the weapon yellow ,the uniform blue and the face red. There is stilla way to go .comments welcome.

Great piece Andy. My only comment would be that the helmet seems to fit him too well, for a young lad that is.

Your German is a wee bit off. It's "Das letzte Aufgebot", not "AufGebote"

Actually I was thinking that his helmet was looking a bit big before I read your post and that a larger helmet was appropriate. I guess it all in the eye of the beholder.

Having another look Colin, I think you're right. It's just in the second photo it seems to fit. But I think that it's more hood than head. If you know what I mean.
I still think it's superb nonetheless,
    Carl.

Oh I like it. Small soldiers fighting to death? Interesting but dramatic subject. As for the helmet you must remember there were different sizes of the helmet shell. It is rather tricky to find big sizes on the collector market nowday. I would say there is a lot of them that are pretty small actually. Just my 2 cents.
    Well done!

    Hi Andy,

the helmet does not bother me, although it gives the impression of a kid who gave this lying around in the corner to make it a "soldier".
Face painting and a true success.

    Sorry for the translation.

    Hi Andy

German language is not easy. :p But the bust is very good and shows exact the situation of "Das letzte Aufgebot"

Andy, excellent sculpting and I love the expressions you've captured, to me one is of defiance and the other apprehension and fear.

    Cheers Ken
