Of course, he is General Ursus from "Return to Planet of the Apes". This bust has been sculpted by Jonathan Monerris and it isn't a commercial release, but a piece produced by himself for direct sale. The scale is very small, what makes it very easy and comfortable to paint:

It has been a bit challenging, as it isn't easy to differentiate all the diverse parts, beign such a dark character. Also, the satin finish of the leather parts, as the hood, makes hard the task of taking decent pics. Here are a couple of pics where you can see a bit better all tones and shades of the hood:

    Hope you like it.

PS. If anybody is interested in a copy, Jonathan sells them for 15€. Send me a private message and I'll give you his e-mail ;)

I love this. I will for sure get one. I did a small 54mm Caesar figure a few years ago. I was looking at a resin copy the other day and thinking I need to get this figure finished. You can see a photo of him on this old thread.

I was looking at it and thought that you had done a great job in a large scale, but then i saw the pic you had of it next to a Vallejo bottle, and had to change my thoughts to how well you handled this in such a small scale. Very well done

    Thanks, guys!
Glad you like it. The scale is very comfortable to paint. You don't get bored painting any large monotonous areas.

Fernando, excellent paint job. It is a relatively small bust so it looks. This is a piece that keeps the perfect balance between animals and humans.
As always, quality and cleanliness of the detail is excellent, especially the eyes.

In early April I had the opportunity to see some of your figures in the contest of Zaragoza and the way you paint is flawless.
    Congratulations.

Must have been quite a challenge to paint Fernando, with all the similarly dark tones. You did an excellent job on this unusual bust.

    Fernando,

That is really, really cool! I remember going to the movies to see these Apes! I may have to pick one up myself. I too agree I thought it looked good but when you posted a size picture I now think it looks Great!

    Thanks guys!
This miniature is indeed a fantastic piece and a bit of a challenge to paint. I also like a lot the POTA saga and, when Jonathan show me the original sculpture of this piece a year ago, I inmediatly fell in love with it. I pestered him so much that, when he saw me this year, first thing he said to me was: "Man, I have the copies of the ape bust!" :) :) :)
I'm trying to convince him to a do, at least, a Cornellius and a Zaius...
