    Hi All

For my next project I intend to capture the mood and confidence of the German Asault through the countryside in France.

This will involve 2 figures with one figure jumping over a wall and the other standing behind giving covering fire.

The figure jumping over the wall is going to be my own sculpt (Using Readdie's excellent manequin) I have started by replacing the boots, adding the head and hands and getting the pose right.

The other figure will be the Tamiya 1/16 elite infrantry figure which will be converted to suit the occassion. He will be standing behind as said trooper begins the assault, look forward to providing you with updates as and when they happen :-

    Hi Guys

I agree this is still ambitous but it's not quite as big as the last project and that was a brilliant learning curve!!

The big thing here is sculpting figure 2, however with a bit of help from you guys and taking my time I think I can get a good result!!

@ Carl.........the whole scene is based upon an assault on your house followed by said soldiers carting plasma TV over said wall :-P

For the record, the head is verlinden and so are the hands. As previously stated the Manaquin was done by Steve and I would highly recommend them as it takes the boring bit out of the sculpt and saves alot of time.

I think I'll start the scene first this time as i await delivery of the Tamiya figure so on we go................

    Nice work so far!
    I like the dynamic pose.

The 98K is kind of too heavy to hold it like that
    especially when jumping and running.

    ;)

    Hi

The 98 is just for show at the moment, I am going with an MP40 to coincide with the other soldier.

All the finer details are still being considered at the planning stage, but yeah you are 100% right and thanks for your input.

    Cool!
Hey, is that a Verlinden rifle? I know it was pointed out that the Kar is a bit heavy, but if you are using the Verlinden Kar to model your figure, its also a bit too big for 1/16th. The DML Kar98's, or even the rifles from the old Tamiya 1/16th figs, are closer to the right size. I have a Mauser, probably pre-1900 as used by the Boers, and I can nearly wrap my hand all the way around it at any point on the stock/barrel, and I don't have huge hands.

Oh, his arms and legs are a bit skinny...:D Sorry, figured I would start early ;)

    Hi all

Thanks for looking in and for all your words if encouragement.

@Steve, the manequins you put together of a very high quality and have certainly made the jumping pose much easier.

@Jay, good to see you back and look forward to your feedback over the coming weeks etc.The rifle is a verlinden rifle and as previously stated itsthere for show to make sure the balance is right. I have a superb stormtrooper mp40 which fits the bill perfectly.

I have already started filling in the manequin with the flesh parts in preperarion for the clothing so will post up later.

    Thanks
    Dave

    Hi

Spent most of last night sculpting basic flesh in to the manequin, just need to sculpt neck in to shoulders add some bulk here and there, clean up and then start to clothe.

MP40 is just propped up by blu-tac so certainly not in the final position:-

Dave, a great start and I like the idea behind this one.
It might be the camera angle but before you start adding clothing I would just check the length of his legs from his knees to the bottom of his feet, it looks like you've measured for shoes and not long boots if you know what I mean. Looking forward to following.
BTW it was great meeting you at Hinckley on Sunday.

    Cheers Ken
