Just ordered the new Jeff Shui figure, absolute class, but hell yeah it would have looked superb in this scene.................................oh well, always an excuse to do another eh!!

Moving on to the figure kneeling down now so will keep posting the pics as I go along.

Made a start on the second figure. Head is about done, just the usual tidy up with a touch of varnish here and there, so on to the clothing today, please ignore, slight sheen which is due to the oil paint still being wet (I have mixed a touch of matt varnish so it drys with a matt finish)

The eyes were a killer to do on this face as they are under the front of the helmet:-

Just about finished the shading on the other white sheet/smock.

White is so difficult to get the shading right, not saying this is 100% but I am pretty pleased given my limited painting skills:-

Hi Gordy and thanks for your feedback.

I am really trying hard to give the whole scene a quite depressive grimey look and so far it's not looking bad.

The snow will also add to the feel and i will add a few more icicles to hang from the wood above.

Not far away now and enjoying every minute.

please allow me an comment the jaw of your shouting figure is not lowered.and the round lips look not anatomic right.you whould use an burr and make an deep hole under the nose maybe remove the hole lower chin area.
an shouting man shows his teeth and the jaw is lowered.he looks like he is about to blow an horn.
more easy would be to search an shouting head and add the helmet.i think there are some shouting verlöinden heads around.

Hey chaps thanks for all your help.

I have verlinden heads and they are all pretty poor and obtaining an off the shelf shouting head is as rare as rocking horse pooh so I will have to make the best of a bad job.

I think I will experiment with teeth in the void which may create a better impression so watch this space however I am not going to spend hours on this as it does not look too bad. If you take stills of various mouth movements during shouting or speech you will notice that the mouth does take on this shape but to a lesser degree.

Oh well back to a bit more experimentation, I may get someone like Steve Readdie to commission a sculpt but hey I'll always gave a go myself first.

I thought I was doing ok but .............. now then, where is this guys trumpet!!

Your comments mean alot, helps spur me on to get the scene just right, even though there is a tad of re-workinf to do.

I also look at it in a positive way, in that the first head was bloody good practice.

Ok much better result (I think?) having purchased some 1/16 stuff from Carl a while back, we both decided that the shouting head from his figure may solve my problem here.

I removed the helmet, cleaned the face and thinned out to make it slightly smaller, sculpted the toque, new helmet and bingo :-

It's not going to be complete in time for Hinkley, I'm ready to start painting again but I want to take my time and get it to a decent quality and I am also not sure if its of the standards to show, but I will aspire to enter/show stuff as I improve.
