    Fellow MilMinMen:
Here is a new 1/10 scale bust from Pony Soldier due out in March.
It depicts major Dick Winters, Leader of the 101st Airborne, Band of Brothers who sadly passed away recently.

    Fell free to critique.

Some more pics of the bust would be nice, but in all honesty, it doesn't look like him. The man in the pic looks to be late 20s; early 30s at most. The bust looks to be considerably older - 40s or early 50s.

The tie seems to be too thin and indistinct and the cap is too thick. Look how tightly the cap fits to the head in the pic, then look at the cap on the bust; there's too much bulk at the lower edge.

Was this a long planned release? Since Maj. Winters recently passed away, the sudden release of the bust seems a bit exploitive.

Have to agree here - it looks otherwise to the original character, don't know if I really like it. Best to be honest than give false praise.

Thanks for all the comments both positive & negative. One learns just as much from mistakes as from success.

I will take him back to the bench for additional work and modification. I admit the image makes him look older.

As for exploitation of a hero. Your definition of exploitation is translates to my admiration and respect for a true "everyman" warrior and leader, as well as the 101st ABN in which my son served in the first Iraq war. They were and still are the true heroes of today - regardless of politics.

    Thanks again for the comments.

Thanks for your sons service, Terry -

Were you using the photo above for reference or going off of another source?

I did use the photo as reference. I am now in the process of making changes as per the comments and critiques I received. I have to admit the image a used to display the bust does make him look older - excessive lighting/contrast and a little heavy hand on the eye wrinkles did not help. To live is to learn...even in ones senior years.

    Thanks for the comments
