This is my latest bust for Jose at www.minutemanmodels.com
It represents Sacagawea, a Lemhi Shoshone woman who accompanied the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Although completed, any minor adjustments can still be made , many thanks for looking and I welcome any comments and critique.

    Cheers Ken

Re: Sacagawea, Guide to Lewis & Clark

    Ken:

Just a beautiful job of sculpting on this bust. I would imagine women are so
much more difficult to sculpt than men. You have her features rendered so
well. Even the ears look right. I think Donna Reed would even be happy with
this rendering (Riddle answer at the bottom)

I have a question hoping that some one out there, one of our Planeteers
can answer this question. What is the proper way to pronounce her name.

    For years, I said:

Sagg- Ah - Ja - Wee - Ah

But lately I hear more pronounce her name:

    Sah - Cock - Ah - Wee - Ah

Regardless, Mill-Mart, congratulations on a lovely piece of sculpting.

Kansas Cold Kid Riddle Answer: Hollywood stared Fred McMurray
in a Lewis & Clark movie that was completely unfactual.
Even had Sacagawea falling in love with one of the Famous men.
Donna Reed. . . I'm not making this up. . . played the part of Sacagawea

Steve, cheers mate appreciate the comments.

    Guy, many thanks.

Rick, not sure of the correct way to pronounce her name, however if you have or rent the movie Night in the Museum starring Ben Stiller, his love interest is an expert on Sacagawea and sure she pronounces it several times. I know there's a simpler way but hey you can also enjoy the movie.:)

Matthew , glad you like her.

    Cheers Ken

Beautifully done in all aspects...and a wonderful subject, too.
This young woman was way more important to the American destiny than anyone would ever think. She saved their asses big time, because the leader of a huge hostile war party they came upon was her brother!
Nice work on a true American icon. Bravo.
