Thanks Pedro, if it's half as well finished as your latest figure then I will be thrilled.

Figure 2 is now cleaned so is ready for first coat of primer tomorrow.

    Hi Adrian

Thanks for showing an interest. It appears fast because I have dedicated every minute of my spare time and I wanted to get the two mods completed in time for the arrival of the two stormtrooper figure that only require a slight bit of modifying.

I have now given the 2nd figure 1 coat of primer which is imperative to help show the parts that still need a bit of filling before the second coat. I have blu tacced the head in position for now and added the folding spade and bread bag to the rear. There is also a further rolled up sheet to add to the area between the shoulder blades but this will be added once painted to make life a bit easier.

Sorry about the quality of the pics:-

Thought you may want to see the two figures together. It's funny but they are already starting to tell a story and I am pleased they are also starting to capture the feeling of the moment, which is a big step in drawing you in to the scene:-

    Hi Sam

    Thanks for your kind words.

I'm looking forward to receiving the other two figures so I can see how it all fits together. My initial intention was to have the scene on a large base but I now think it may detract from the close/tight combat that took place in Stalingrad, so I'll reduce the size of the base and and bring the figures within reasonable distance of each other.

Got to start thinking about the groundwork soon lol!!

    Hi David,

    Coming together nicely now....

Please allow me one comment now that you can still correct things: you should really raise the right shoulder of the pointing man. If you point your arm that way, the shoulder must raise; just check with a mirror to see this. Must be relatively easy to fix given your abilities!

    Cheers,
    Adrian

    Hi Adrian

    Another good observation thanks matey.

The arm is fixed and pinned so the only way to do this is by illusion, ie raise the uniform up a notch, I think this looks better, please comment:-

    Hi Adrian

I have looked at it a few times now and the figure is leaning slightly towards the right which was intended to give the impression of him keeping himself out of the way and giving the impression of peering aswell as pointing. In this regard the shoulder is going to be slightly lower considering the weight is shifting to the right to pick up the rifle.

I've looked several times and it would start to look awkward by raising the shoulder/clothing, so I'm sticking as it is.

you are 100% right that the pointing arm creates a slightly higher shoulder (but not by much) as the deltoids tense to support the arm but this is on a straight position with the other arm not doing anything.

I think I'll stick but would never discount your valued input.

    Thanks Dave

Sorry to respond a bit late David.
Your suggestion to add a little bulk to the shoulder looked quite pragmatic and effective as far as I could see. But your latest post makes clear that you put some serious study into it and any decision based on that is probably the right one. I don't want to presume I know better just by watching some pics and not the 3D real thing! ;-)

Looking forward to following further progress.

    Cheers,

    Hi Adrian

I have always beleived that if it looks right it is probably going to be right or near as you can get. I've gone over it a few times looking at different positions, from different angles at it just seems quite natural and what I did not want to do was to re-sculpt and then be dissapointed, take off, clean, re-sculpt and then there is always a danger that you lose the enthusiasm of the build.

Lots of Psychology to consider in this art, however I am taking a bit of time out as I have spent the equivelent of about 2 days (48 hours on the two figures and the other two have yet to arrive from Elgreco.

I'll start to maybe tidy weapons and smooth out the 2nd figure with a tad of filler here and there, but I'll get back witha keen eye at the weekend ( when work cannot detract)

    Cheers

Thanks Carl, the real time consuming area will be the painting but it's also the most satisfying. I'm no amazing painter but I can get decent results and I am also moving in to scratch sculpting so watch this space.

    Hi Steve

A public thank you for your support over the past few weeks, you really have been a massive help.

I have added a few finishing touches to figure 2 (the odd clothing crease and a bit of filling here and there, so I'll give it a second coat at the weekend and then they are both ready for paint.

    Thanks
    Dave

Bit of bad news.......or could be a blessing??

Email from Elgreco to say one of the resin kits has been taken off the shelf due to casting problems and they do not have a delivery date :-(

So I am down to 3 figures now, it's this one that will be missing:-

    Hi

Basic construction of figure 3 completed. I have just tacced the hands and ammo pouches for now as they need to be painted off the model. I also need to do some filling around the joins, but it will not be long before primeing.

The quality of the stormtrooper figures are fantastic, beautifully crisp detail and great expression. I am trimming the base mould that cam with the kit as it is too high at the moment, and although the other two figures will be slightly lower down (want to give the impression of gathered rubble up against the wall) I do not want them to be on a different level all together.

I'll make my own bricks for loose blown up/damaged in milliput, and I might add a wall lamp to add a bit more interest, along with half a door sticking out the snow/rubble......................so many idea's lol.

Here is a feel for composition, try to invisage a corner wall next to the figure throwing the grenade and the pointing figure holding on to the strap of a K98, I will also expand this wall to enclose the action around half the frame creating an "L" shape to add to the atmosphere of close combat:-

I like the composition. However, I was wondering. If his buddy just got zapped by a sniper, would he be kneeling next to him in the open pointing to where the shot came from? He would soon be lying right next to his friend, I would think. Just an observation.
