Here is a piece I just finished the morning of the Long Island Historical Miniatures Show. He is a 1/9 scale Waffen SS tank commander in a Panther cupola. I wanted to try some new techniques as far as finishing the look of leather so I thought this would be perfect. As always he and the cupola are painted in Vallejo Acrylics along with Citadel brand paints for the metallics. The cupola was weathered with oil washes, MIG pigments and graphite powder.

    Hi Dan,

The face, cap, cupola and jacket look great, but what's up with those hands?? I'm not sure if its the way they were sculpted or the way you've painted them, but they look wrong. It's a pity because they distract from an overall excellent bust.

I was thinking the same thing they look huge. It doesn't detract from a stunning bit of painting though.

    It's the sculpt Tony...

They are comically HUGE! LOL even my wife was goofing on his hands while I was painting it.

EXCELLENT work all around on one of Warriors poorer 1/9 efforts. Not only are the hands crazy big, but his chest, shoulders and torso seem awfully small in comparison to the head and arms. I always wondered why they stopped making the first version of this kit (which was very good) and switched to this one. I think if they had been able to use this for the box art, they would have sold a few more. Well done!

BTW, anyone else see a bit of a resemblance to Jean Luc Picard???

    Both versions of the kit

    Nice painting Dano!

Both versions of the kit were commercially available until the sale of VLS to MMD. 3-1/2 years ago.
This was a joint venture between Jim Maddox and Brian Stewart and yes it was quite a let down compared to the original.

As far as painting goes, two thumbs up.

Depending on which parts we are talking about, the kit is average, and at times below-average.

    Very nice

Great painting. I think you've done a great job on the lethers and the weathering of the tank. The face is also worth a mention. Well done.

    Indeed it's a masterpiece, Dan.
Your fresh tone is very natural and wonderful.
Indeed I think a perfect work.
I want you to permit me who can do only such evaluation.
    I congratulate completion.

    Actually...

it is supposed to bear a resemblence to Jochen Peiper but yes I do see some resemblence to Jean Luc except with hair.
