So I sorted out the dodgy piping on the cap .. Thanks guys

I sprayed up the pants and the mitts today and did a fair bit with conventional brushes too. The colours used are....

Base AV English Uniform
Mid AV Deck Tan
Top AV Off White

I still need to soften the stiching and seam work and add a final Highlight with AV White, I'm going to pretty much finish and weather the bottom half before moving up to the top half.... Probably

Tunic just blocked with green as a base coat

Great progress Mark. So you've chosen the infantry it seems. Good choice! I'm looking forward to seeing how you tackle the sheep/ goat skin jacket.

I'm talking about the photosequence from a to p....
I like his cold look in picture O. What colors did you used to get that cold colour.

is this issued with two heads?,i looked at the stormtroopers site because i want the panzermeyer.and this here is shown with an officers peaked cap.but seem to be the same figure.or did you make an conversion?????????

looks quite plainer with out the fancy pink piping.but i think it was safer in those days without flashy attributes on headgear.maybe thats the reason they omitted from 42 onwards even the soutache on the sidecap itself.your face painting rocks its an very own style but looks great.

Sounds like a very heavy week of partying mate. Glad to hear you survived it.

I like your progress on this figure, but I just wanted to ask you if you thought the neck was a bit too long?

I just noticed it as I looked at your latest pics, and wondered if the length of the neck was in proportion to the rest of the body? It seems to me that his chin should be right down on the collar of the jacket.

I know sometimes photos can distort things, so perhaps it doesn't look too bad in person, however from these photos I think you may need to shave a few millimetres off the base of the neck.

Really coming along with the painting now Mark and as usual your painting doesn't disappoint mate.

I agree totally with Tony that the neck is too long and the chin should hang over the scarf and be touching it, might not be an easy task now to cut the neck though without damaging the great paint job.

The neck, it's socket and the saw .....

As Tony and Steve observed the head was riding a bit high, so I buried the head in a blob of blu tack and trimmed about 2mm off the neck... no damage to the paint and sits lovely!

I then looked in the neck hole and dug out the huge blob of blutack that had built up

the head is now sitting on top of a pile of blutack .....

Measure twice, cut once! I should have checked twit that I am ...


Lots still to do just about every where but a nice steady progression

Okay, some work on the leather. added a bit of camo esque colour inside the mitts as the trigger finger version was a bit later and was only issued in that ? I think Can't really see it anyway

So far I'm liking how this is going... still a tad more work on some of the transitions to do

the mittens where first made without trigger finger.so one had an different trigger to use in winter.called WINTERABZUG.
thats how germans think before the come to the idea to add an finger to the mitten they built an complicated thing like an trigger armature which has to be built to the rifle to operate the trigger with gloves which cover the whole palm..one reason more why germany lost always thinking to complicated

Wow Mark, this is coming along very cooooool.

Didnt bother to mention about neck as saw the blue tack early on.

Loved converting this from another figure which in itself was a conversion but this version has always been my favorite and he is coming to life beautifully

Nothing stuck on yet but somewhat closer to finished Used GW Gryphonne Sepia for the woodwork on the stick grenades... worked like a charm NMM for all the metal work except the gun, thats NMM with a touch of graphite .....

Carl ... It's a useful colour Bricks, rubble, mud and snow for the base I think
