    Hi everyone.

As seen in the WASMEX thread, the pirate before sunset is all complete.
Enjoy the photos and please leave some feedback!
Thanks to all those who followed my WIP thread

    Hi Scott,

OK,I'llgive you my honest critique mate.

Firstly, your photography is really, really, really crap. It doesn't do you any favours when showing off your painting. Don't use your iPhone dude!

Secondly, I've seen this bust close up in person and it looks much than these photos suggest. Even so, I still think you need to be a lot bolder with your contrasts and to concentrate on blending your transitions.

    Scott,
The picture's aren't so good that there is a real honest comment to give on.
But i find that your blending could be much better. The transitions between the colors are to hard.
The jacket seems to be one color without shading and highlighting.
If it is possible, take some new pictures and jump in again.

    Hi Scott
The photos aren't the best but I saw this in person at WASMEX and was pretty impressed with what you did. At least you finished the club project which is something you should feel proud of.

Hi Scott - difficult bust subject matter to try this out on, as Tony and Megroot has mentioned, tones to colours, transitions, shadows and highlights with varying ranges of colours is our ultimate destination in this particular discipline, lord knows - I battle enough just focussing on these meself, to get them right and consequently the longer time taken to finish them. Thanks for posting mate.;)

    Hi Scott,

Enough said about the pictures. Just bring us better ones so the more knowledgable among us can kindly offer guidance.

Taking into account that the pictures are what they are, I'd like to say that I am seeing nice touches here and there. I'd like to think you were aware of the extent of highlights and shading you intended to apply, and that you have painted accordingly. That some contrasts came off not gently enough is just a matter of practice and accumulation of intuition, no biggie.

Can't help but speculate your specific leaning in the broader modelling arena by the look of your profile picture. A very honest and probably harsh opinion: images like that might not go down well with some Planeteers, suggesting a degree of seriousness not approved on this 'Planet'. It might pay to reintroduce yourself.

That said, I myself am a devoted collector of garage kits. Let's just say in my very early days on Planet, I learnt about the nature of this forum and gradually readjusted myself in terms of what I paint and how I paint it. Historians are the fondest members on this 'Planet'. Good luck settling in.

    hello
i struggle myself with pics.well they are not too good.but the base looks nice as the monkey.its hard to compete here because the level of the painter is enormous high.so its intimitating to show the own stuff here for me.but i got some good tips here.but still i consider mine not good.anyway
but why do you make an piercing on an historic figure??????????????????that looks more as strange.please do not mind.maybe the items is not longer ment as historic piece??
    cheers

    Hi everyone.

Thankyou for your comments. I will get someone to take some photos for me this weekend (the same person who photographed jackie chan and grunbeld for me - so you know she's good :) )

    regarding this one...

Sorry I paint fantasy. But deal with it. I'll keep painting what I do because its what I enjoy

    Dear all,

I knew it would cause some ripples when I posted the above and I made sure I didnt refer to all Planeteers. But the truth is I have been attacked both in public and private by certain Planeteers before when I brought up subjects outside a very refined range of kits. Certain parties have explicitly expressed that certain subjects are not welcome here. Maybe anger and grudge have misled me into thinking that somehow represented Planetfigure as a whole. I now know it is unfair. The truth is, I have befriended quite a few friends from Planet. It's just that I always have had to tell myself: don't think of them as Planeteers. Think of them as part of the modelling community who are kind, accepting and open-minded. See the effects of those attacks on me and how I perceive this otherwise magnificent forum?

Scott, I totally believe in doing what you want because you enjoy it. I myself collect some of the most random kits that would make a fellow-modeller go "WTF" and "where on earth did you get this piece?". So personally I have no problem with anyone painting anything. When I suggested "reintroducing", it was not with hostility, but meant as a gentle suggestion, before the same people attack you like they attacked me. You should have sensed my support when I paid partial compliment to your painting. I am all about supporting and befriending modellers. If that 24-yr-old amateur brain of mine sometimes said things to have attracted controversy and misunderstanding, I apologize for the lack of artistry in my wording.

I hope the above clarifies my original texts. And before someone responds by denying any aforementioned hostility and inadequacy towards myself in the past, I know for a fact I am not paranoid. I have exchanged with several Planeteers regarding these issues and it's aknowledged to be a behaviour that exists here.

    Michael, thanks for your clarification
I think you should report your bullys to our lovely moderators
It's been said plenty of times already, this is a forum for all
It's planet figure. Not planet historical onl
I will say this once - all those bullies of Michael - don't bother trying it on with me
I have had to put up with your junk for too long and I have every right to paint what I love. So do us all a favor. AND GET LOST

You sure did. And i was not happy with that at all

But that doesn't include the whole planet. For me, everybode can show what he want, fantasy, nudity etc. As long as the love for figurepainting is coming out.

So you see, that it is the wrong way to comment on a forum. You embarrase persons who are not involved with the case

Then deal with the persons on a PM with the attacks. Do not do it public. I think you can damage the Planet with those thoughts.

So it is Scott, not only historical figures. I wonder who ever told you that it is just a forum about historical figures??

Why so hostile. The last three words aren't necessary and totally overflowing.
I can only hope that the moderators close this, before it end up in scolding and more from that uncivilized behavior.

Looking forward to your new pictures of the Pirate to make a new comment.
