The story so far with the Warriors 200mm General.
Anyone who hasn't done a 200mm figure will think it's easy. I know I did. The amount of work needed to shade is just soul destroying. This is something like 30 hours work just to shade the greatcoat in layers.
Method is 1 thin coat of field grey then I done a bit of pre shading with chocolate brown/field grey in the shadows and german camo beige/field grey for the lights. Then another thin base coat of field grey. Lights are sea grey/field grey then highlighted with light german camo beige/field grey. Shadows are german camo dark green/field grey then bronze green/field grey, then black/field grey. Still needs tidying up and weathering to tie into the base, but here he is so far.
The leather gloves were done in the same way as the boots tutorial but with more red added to the basecoat.



Shading with the ppsh magazine pouch attatched. The helmet has had silver printers ink applied on the edge and the whole helmet has been washed with very dilute chocolate brown. The final product was ground up pencil lead applied and rubbed with a flat brush to "metalise" the helmet.



Close up of the frag grenades with decals applied using microsol softener and Johnsons Klear (Thanks to my armour background) then matt varnished applied to prevent seeing the edge of the decal. The wooden parts are natural wood and then oil paints. The paint chips were applied with a small bit of sponge using silver printers ink.

Gordy, I noticed the same thing man those look great. Indeed the hard work is going to make for a superior painted figure.

Congrats, Grant, for a fabulous job beyond doing the kit justice!

Scupt-wise, it is unfortunate the less than natural impression of fabric, among other tiny things, especially considering the scale. One can understand this is due to the age of the release. Nonetheless counter-examples abound.

Then again, the paint job is top-notched!

This is very good my friend I like the use of the choc brown and German beige I will be taking note of this and yes it takes much blending to get right, your doing a superb job, can't fault here. Bravo

I agree. I spent ages thinning the bottom of the coat as it was about 3mm thick. The cuffs are enormous but my sculpting skills are zero so I really didn't know what do with them. If they were in real scale they are thick enough to stop a bullet. But I think the vastness of the base and pose of the figure can excuse a few discretions.

Your doing wonderful work on this one, especially the smooth transitions with acrylics on the great coat.

I shy away from acrylics on 200mm scale because of the large areas that need painting but it works here, please keep the the SBS going !
