    Hi guys,

I'm really excited to be starting on this classic 70mm Poste Militaire Conquistador kit sculpted by Keith Durham, which I picked up from Frank Miniatures at Euro last year.

This is the first Poste Militaire kit I've ever made, so it's a great thrill for me to finally get my hands on it.

I know this kit is pretty rare now, but I believe kits are for making not for collecting and hoarding, and I'm hopeful I can do justice to it.

I'm planning to do some thick Central American jungle foliage on the base.

    Cheers

    Hey Tony,

I have done a lot of PM kits but never did this one. I have no idea why because it has always been one of my favorite ones. Well, I too just picked this one up from one of PF members and I hope to finally paint it myself! So I will be keeping an eye out on your version.

Looking forward to this Tony, especially the thick Central American jungle foliage part, which IMHO no one has ever really got really right.

And I look forward to your treatment of his grim-looking face and of the jungle foliage; quite a challenge!

A great kit to paint and build a spectacular scene around.
Word of warning....be careful of the spear tip, very easy to break off and lose.
    Enjoy
    Cheers

So looking forward to this one being completed, with the jungle foliage it will be a cracker. Just managed to pick up PM's MacBeth and Galloglas pretty cheap.
    Following with interest Tony.

    Cool figure!

Do you think when Keith was sculpting it he was thinking of the character played by Klaus Kinski in 'Aguirre, Wrath Of God' 1972?

Hi everyone and thanks very much for all your comments and encouragement. The last 24 hours have been rather hectic as I had to rush my wife to hospital about 20 minutes after I posted my first pics on this thread last night and as you can imagine I haven't been near my hobby room or the computer since. Hopefully she'll be out tomorrow but may need to have her appendix removed.

While I'm at it, Rick Brownlee, the Miami Jayhawk is recovering at home after athroscopic surgery on his knee yesterday and I wanted to give a big shout out to Rick and give him my best wishes for a speedy recovery.
