Hi everyone. Here's the progress I've made on the horse. Still lots to do, like the hooves, reins, eyes, muzzle, and the mane and tail, which are only undercoated black in these pics. The veins are a little more subtle in person. I'm not going to make my end of May goal, but should still be able to finish in plenty of time for Tulsa. Thanks for looking!

Jason even whitout all the abovementioned parts painted this horse is amazing. I take it you trusted oils for the task?

    Hello. Excellent work.

I am not sure the gold braid of the saddle is perfectly accurate. See below,

Thanks for the nice comments guys!

Michael - yes, I'll be there - looking forward to it, as always.

Dimitrios - yes, I used oils for the finish on the horse.

Paul - Where were you with that photo about two months ago??? Oh well, I'm not going to change the braid now. I'm sure it's possible that over the years of Champion's service, he may have, at some point, used a different model saddle blanket than the one pictured.

That is outstanding. You are a true master Jason.
Is there any place in Kansas where you give seminaries how to paint miniatures?

    Jason,

I think the saddle is not an issue. I have seen some others (like the Emperor's one) with the same pattern as yours. Do not worry. And your painting is awsome, as usual.

Looking forward to seeing it completed!

    John, Piotr, and Paul:

Thank you for the kind words!

Piotr: no, but I did give a seminar at the Tulsa show (not too far from K.C.) last year, and probably will again in the future - if they'll have me!!

Paul: thanks again, and I do appreciate the excellent reference photo you provided. I'll have to save it for future use.

    Very nice Jason!
I like how you are only sparingly using the extreme highlights.
    Very inspiring!

    Piotr,
