This is the start of the latest sculpt in the range of Heroines.
Aleksandra Samusenko was a female Tank Commander who fought at the battle of Kursk in 1943.
She was killed in the last days of the war in the final battle for Berlin.

Made a bit of progress, I started on the helmet and torso. This is my first attempt at a Russian Tankers helmet, so no doubt it'll be two steps forward one step back until I'm happy with it. Many thanks for looking .

Jamie, the reason I build up the head separately is simply that , any putty left over I tend to stick on the end of either a cocktail stick or a cheap metal tube to cut down after. I've never really thought about doing it any other way. All the info and pics come from a fellow Planeteer Redtom who's a Russian Historian, I was going to say Nut but I'm too polite..
