Here is my first figure for the year, or should l say bust of the British Parra in Afghanistan carrying the as we call it in Aus, Mag 58 GPMG.
This bust is sculpted by Mourice corry and was an excellent casting. I had a lot of fun with this one and dedicate it to all those serving world wide. Keep ya heads down and stay safe.

Nice work on the bust Andrew and it is one i am working on at this moment, just got the head painted and the sleeves so far.

I found the casting very bad on mine with some detail missing on figure and plinth, also there were loads of airbubbles needed filling, i almost gave up on it to be honest because of the amount of work needed to prep for priming.
I have to say though it is a very nice bust and thats the only reason i bought it.

    Andrew ,
Nice redition , like the camo and the way you have treated the gloves and the weapon , I have a version of this in the gray army but like 1969 mine also has a bit of work needed .
Nice to dedicate the work to the boys out there .

Nice one, just my forte.Just finished a 120mm Britsh soldier Afgan.which is now in mould which is similarly equiped.Don't want to bring up the Maurice debate again! but what a pity he isnt mainstream anymore,he did so much skilled work for me.

Great bust this a must get for me as ex-mob, just a small point the butts on the "gimpy" are not wood anymore but hard black plastic furniture.

Thanks for posting and a great job in completing, RobH.(y)

Fantastic painting, that looks really superb. I really love the cammo and the chest rig.

My only point is the way he is carrying the MAG58, it just doesn't look heavy. The MAG58 is seriously heavy piece of kit and it just looks like it's hovering on his shoulder.

Ditto, don't you think the Gympy also looks a little small too?

Thanks, it's okay but a better look from 3 and 9 o'clock would give a better idea. RobH.(y)

This is a part of the bust i feel could have been sculpted better, the weapon doesnt fit onto the very sloped shoulders well and for mine i had to resculpt part of the scarf to allow it to sit better and closer to the body.
As for the length of this Gimpy it is correct for 1/9 scale measuring in at 141mm, i think its just the angle of the pics in Andrews post that makes it seem smaller.

lovely work Andrew and i hope to display mine soon.

    Thankyou

Hi all, thanks for all your kind remarks, it is very appreciated.
It took a fair bit of work to finish this, but l was very happy with the end result.
My appologies also for the miss spelling of Helmand and not hemland as l spelt it. Silly me. Thanks again.

Now all you have to do is do a wash with turquoise to get that funky desert-uniform-tried-to-die-it-green look!

Love it, excellent work on the bust :D
