    Hi all.
I've finished my last dio, based in the moment that North Carolina contingent of Pickett's Charge cross the Emmittsburg Road in Gettysburg battle.
The Troiani's picture has been of great help for me.
The equipment, rifles, flagg, some head etc are from Shenandoah Miniatures
    I hope you like it.
    Regards.

    Great vignette! Absolutly great composition.

Could you show us this Troiani picture? I'm not an expert of the US civil war, but I like this subject.

    Thanks!

    Jose,

Very well done. My hat is off to you. It's nice to see that you have taken the efforts to get the look of the soldiers correct. It's easy to spot something quickly thrown together and that which was well planned and thought out. I've included some information on the 7th North Carolina flag (flag on the far left) that is in Troiani's painting. The Battle Honors were painted on one side of the flag and you can barely see their reversed through the flag. Starting at the top and going clockwise here are the Battle Honors on the flag.

NOTE: I'm in the process of researching the Battle Honors on the flag as some may be confusing (I am..a little) It lists COLD HARBOR among them. I understand that Gaine's Mill (Seven Days battle 1862) is sometime referred to as the First Battle of Cold Harbor. I'm satisfied with that. However the WILDERNESS is also listed. Was there another battle referred to as the WILDERNESS?

    TOP CENTER
    NEW BERNE.
    HANOVER.
    MECHANICSVILLE.
    COLD HARBOR.

    RIGHT SIDE
    MANASSAS PL'NS.
    OX HILL.
    HARPER'S FERRY.
    SHARPSBURG.

    BOTTOM CENTER
    SHEPHERDSTOWN.
    FREDERICKSBURG.
    WILDERNESS.
    CHANCELLORSVILLE.

    LEFT SIDE
    FRAZIER'S FARM.
    MALVERN HILL.
    CEDAR RUN.
    MANASSAS JUNCT.

There are also a few comments regarding the uniforms. The sleeves on your figure look more like a modern "tube" type. If you look at the sleeves on surviving jackets and coats the sleeves tend to be very full in the elbow. Also included are pictures of a few frock coats to show you the cut of not only the sleeves but the way the back of the coat was styled as well. The officer's coat belonged to Brig Gen James J. Pettigrew who was killed at Pickett's (Longstreet's) charge. Though this was not the coat he was wearing when he died it gives you a great idea as to how a senior officer's coat may have looked. Though the coat is brown/tab in color careful study showed that it's original color was dark gray. Exposure to the light turned the coat's color over time.

    All in all that's a really nice piece. ~Gary sevennc1.jpgrz.jpg sevensc.jpgrz.jpg General James J. Pettigrew.jpg General James J. Pettigrew 1.jpgrz.jpg General James J. Pettigrew 6.jpgrz.jpg 20b290b0.jpg 209299a0.jpg 20729100.jpg os520p1rd3.jpg LouisianaJacket.jpg

Jose, Nice work. There are a few minor things here and there. But given your location and access to references you've managed to do a respectable job. ~Gary
