    Hi guys,

Here are the final pics of my figure on its base. As I mentioned on my WIP thread, I wanted to show a Stretcher Bearer from the Australian 11 Field Ambulance slogging his way through a muddy trench on the Passchendale battlefield in 1917.

    Sorry about the pic quality.

As always, I welcome any comments and/ or criticisms.

    Tony,
Very muddy but the result is excellent! You did a wonderful job in finishing this figure.
    And great looking face.

    Cheers,
    Marcel.

Thank you Marcel, I'm glad you like him. I did go overboard on the mud, but that was the effect I was looking for.

Tony, mud, mud glorious mud..... great painting and a fine tribute.
I dare say that if it were possible to ask one of the originals, they would probably comment that your figure looks way too clean and was it his first day? :) Hope it's coming to Euro.
    Cheers Ken

Hi Ken, thank you very much for your comments. I agree that in reality he could have been much, much dirtier, but then you wouldn't see any of the detail. Unfortunately he won't be making the trip to Euro with me, but I will be entering him in our local Western Australian Scale Model Expo (WASMEx) next weekend.

Thanks George, I greatly appreciate your comment.

Hi Marc, as far as I could determine, there weren't many (if any) Australians at Vimy Ridge. It was mainly the Canadians who fought there. I chose Passchendale because I wanted to do a really muddy scene. I hope to visit Ypres/ Passchendale and a number of other WW1 battlefields in the coming month as part of my long-awaited European Vacation. I've booked myself to stay in Messines (Mesen) and will use that as a base for a couple days of exploring the Western Front.

Thanks Stephen, I used your vignette of the stretcher bearers in the mud as inspiration. Thanks very much for your comments.

Oh yes Tony they where there.
At the town off Bullecourt (who was destroyed twice in 1513 and 1917) there fought the 4th Australian Division. The 62nd Division was part of the battle enjoying the Anzacs facing the Hindenburg Line who was in the middle of the town Bullecourt.

If you want some more info i have alot for you, and your always welcome at my home (it's only 100km drive from Ypres).

    Hi Marc,

Thanks for providing that information of the 4th Div, I wasn't sure whether the Aussies fought at Vimy Ridge but now I know. And thank you very much for your kind invitation. I hope I might be able to take you up on your offer. Will you be at Euro?

G'day Ben, thanks mate. This is one of 13 models I'm entering this year in WASMEx (I've had a very productive year!!) so you're up against my entire (not so) Grey Army. I'm looking forward to seeing what you're entering too. Can't wait. Only 10 sleeps to go.

Hi Carl thanks mate. I knew you'd like this one.
