This year I didn't finish any figure until now.
Mainly because my efforts to sculpt figures and this learning process took a lot of my modelling time.
And secondly because of the birth of my beautiful daughter. :)

But between the sleepless nights I managed to almost finish this figure.
It's a French dragoon from 1809 and based on the drawing of Michael Saez.

For the figure I used several different parts from other figures. The bearskin, body and bag are Art-Girona parts and the face is from Pegaso.
A lot of dremel work was involved and some sculpting of the arms and changed leg position. For the sculpting I used MS and green stuff.
This my first big conversion and I made some mistakes along the way. Hopefully my next creation will be better.
Here are some pictures of the sculpture.

I primed the piece and painted it with acrylics. Still have some work to do on the lower part of the figure.
Socks and boots needs to be finished, sword needs to be attached and some work on the lower part of the jacket.
And finally a bit more work on the base.
Here are the pictures of the paintwork sofar.

I hope to finish this figure soon and I will post some final pictures.
Thanks for looking and all comments are welcome!

    Cheers,
    Marcel.

Tony, Andrea, Steve, Guy, Marc, Mitsutaka, Stephen, George, John, Ray and Jason Thanks for the compliments and congratulations, much appreciated!

Andrea: Hope to see your work in real life somewhere in the future.

Steve: Maybe after nine months sculpting it would come close but it will never reach it. :)

Marc: Het kost even negen maand maar dan heb je ook iets voortreffelijks.
I'm planning to be in Eindhoven, but I don't know if this piece will be back in time for it.

Stephen: For the breeches I used a mixture of Dark sand and tan earth (base) Shadow with more dark sand, flat brown and German camo black brown. Highlights adding more dark sand and light sand.

Ray: Nothing can beat the real thing. ;)

Jason: Thanks for sharing the green mixtures, I used them on this figure.

    Cheers,
    Marcel.

    Je hebt helemaal gelijk. :D:D

The planning is to show it in an exposition 'Girona 1809-2009' from september till 25 october together with figures from other great painters/sculptors. If the quality of mine is good enough to show it there.

I think it is. I saw your work in Antwerp and you scored well (Silver). I think the show in Girona will also work for some medals.
How do you get your figures there???
