Here's where i'm at with painting this bust.Still the early stages and lots to do as i've only painted the face, and it still needs fine tuning I won't finish him in time for Euro so i'm working on a converted bust which hopefully i will have finished in time.
A beautiful piece of sculpting by Carl Reid which i will definately finish painting after Euro
Just thought i would share the early stages with you guys.
Added a close up of the face which is not entirely finished as i have a strange way of working in that i don't finish fine tuning the face until i've finished painting all of the figure.I do that with all my figures.Just the way i've always worked.

    Hi Pedro
The eyes are not finished yet they will be a lot darker eventually. As i said i don't finish a face until i've painted the rest of the figure then i can get an overall picture of the finished effect i'm after.

Very nice start Brian. May I suggest you consider adding a bit of red colour to your skin tones, particularly the darker areas.

Normally i don't have a definite mix as i like to experiment with each figure i paint, but as this was only my second native american face i kept a mental note,so here it is:-
After priming the face was unercoated with Humbrol 110 natural wood.I then made up a basic mix of Yellow ochre, burnt sienna and raw umber till i had a fairly dark tone i shaded with more raw umber added to the basic mix and highlighted with naples yellow, titanium white with a dab of mars orange to warm the highlights a touch. When this was all done and totally dry i used stains of the shading colour and stains of the highlight colour to enhance the effect.I'll probably do more of these wet on dry touches when i've finished the whole bust.
I've included a picture of the basic mix which hopefully helps. The big dollop in the picture is the basic mix and and the other colours i used for highlighting and shading can be seen.

    Brian,
Why dont'you finish it for Euro. At least there is time enough. Then i could get a close look to this stunning painted figure.
