    Hi Mark,

Stunning result as usual, particularly the eyes (as everyone has already picked up on!). You're rapidly becoming Yorkshire's acrylic king!

As Jay's already said, the early Verlinden stuff was particularly good..........can any planeteer please tell me the sculptor of this piece? Credit where credit's due. I asked the same thing back in August 2008 about the German WW1 machine gunner, but never got a response, .......someone must know who sculpted these pieces!

    All the best,
    Jon.

    Hi Jon and thanks :)

i kinda assumed the sculptor for this was John Rosengrant? i think his earlier stuff tended towards slightly large hands and this young lady has slightly oversize hands. i'm probably wrong but??

    Update..........

i have blocked in the lower half of the suit, some blending still to go but happy with the overall look of them

    Progressing nicely!

The large hands comment recalled a conversation overheard in a bar, many moons ago....

(Guy 1) "Oh Hello, who's this pretty lady?"
(Guy 2) "This pretty lady I just picked up at the bar!"
(Guy 1)"she's....got rather large hands....and an Adams apple, I think..."
(Guy 2) "What are you saying?"
(Guy 1) "Well, she is very pretty, great legs from under that miniskirt...great handshake, from her large, strong hands.....I'll guess you'll find out what I mean...."

Which has absolutely nothing to do with the painting of this Verlinden figure, it just wandered out from some dusty corner of my brain....

    Jamie!

    ;)

i have made snail like progress as it's been goth weekend and i've been doing the paaartay animal thing..... big hangover :(

i've pretty much sorted the shading on the lower half of this and it may look a bit contrasty because it is :) i plan on this young killer being very dusty and sooty so i'll need that contrast as i work the pastels in.

    :)

    Hi Mark,

nice base work, I like the height of it. Is the hole in the brickwork the bit she's just crawled out from?

It looks like you're using watercolour paper on polystyrene? and scoring it quite heavily? What are you using?

PS...how did the Whitby Goth weekend go? Even just hearing about it made me want to squeeze into my leather trousers, backcomb my long forgotten hair, frown at everyone and strut my stuff on the dance floor! Come on Siouxie!

    Cheers,
    Jon.

    Many thanks Mitsutaka :)

Hi Jon .... yes i wanted a vertical base and yes that is her hiding place, she is now waiting for the completion of the base

the wall is a piece of water colour paper folded and glued and the bricks are actually cut out and stuck on! tedious but gives a nice effect :)

the goth weekend was quieter than usual but the local pubs were full to bursting for 5 days and fun was had by all :) well worth the effort ( and the hangovers )

    update!

i made some corrugated metal from the inner of corrugated card ( Klear to make it keep it's shape ) and made a little brick shape onna stick and using plastacine made some plaster bricks :)

    starting to come together slowly.....

    Mark,
    looks good.
I have the Osprey book on Russian fortifications during WW2. Your portrayal is pretty much on, as it was practice to block doors and windows, and use 'mouse holes' to move about.

Is there going to be patriotic graffiti on the walls?

    Cheers

    Hi Jamie!

yeah i have read a fair bit on snipers over the years and concealment is all! not sure yet on the wall

after holiday family stuff ... :-X
and fighting my way to the bottle bank | |) and back |:( through crowds of lemming like bank holiday tourists |:(

i got some time in on this base.... almost finished the build part so some decisions to come on colours and some ( if any ) posters/graffitti/paint on the wall.... i know there will be a soot mark up the wall and the "metal" sheet will probably have old flaking paint and lots of rust natch!
