The Desert Patrol is a paramilitary force of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
It was formed as as a part of the Arab Legion in February 1931. Their main task was border control. Mainly Bedouins are recruiting for the Patrol and they help to establish strong links between the Bedouin and the monarchy that survive today.
Nowadays Desert Patrol have mostly police and pathfinders tasks in the desert regions of Jordan.
Their uniform traditionally is that of Arab Legion. For this bust I used as a refference photos from "National Geographic" issue of 1962. But untill now patrolmen amunition had only slight changes. This work is made of 'Cernit Doll collection' media and some delicate parts are made of Magic Sculpt. It's 1:10 scale.

I wasn't planning to produce it commercially. If someone want to produce it - we can talk about it with pleasure.

Cheung, I haven't make photos step-by-step, but the steps are usual for each bust:
- first of all I make the head, no headgear, no hair, no beard
- according to the head size I make a drawing of the chest and then I make it, no dress or amunition of course
- the neck. Making it I'm try to find exact position of the head - it's rotation and bending
- then I start to dress the body, in this bust I've sculpt the belts while sculpting the dress
- a headgear. In thas bust it was hard and interesting to undersrand how should I fold the kaffiye correctly.
- bullet pouches. Really I made only one pouch - the second from the bottom on his chest. Then I made a small mould of the pouch and multiplayes six more pouches
- the last step or steps was making of the small details - shoulder strips, badge, tassels of kaffiye corners etc.
- the very last step - the smooth bottom of the bust and making a support for the figure

As for me - Cernit is soft, strong after baking, good enough material, I coud rate it better than Sculpey. Not the best one - the temperature while baking have to be very accurate. My favorite of all polymer clays is Premo.
Here I have to say that I always prefere to sculpt faces or big items like busts using polymer clays and not epoxy clays. I can sculpt twice as faster with polymer clay, then it have the same softness all the work time, i can change face expression or to fix errors at each moment while sculpting.
