I haven't posted any works in progress lately and decided to share what is on my bench right now. This is the second bust I recieved and after returning the first to Andrea I recieved an excellent casting of their "After The Battle" knight in 1/10th scale resin.

I chose to represent an older Crusader with graying brown hair, white whishers due the the age lines sculpted into the bust.

Below is the helmet which I will work on today. It has a dark brown base coat for the undercoat for the brass and a gun metal base coat for the steel portion of the helmet. It looks kinda crude right now but after dry-brushing the next step it should turn out well ( I hope )

Another great paint job Guy. I'm looking forward to seeing the final pics. Despite the early problems with the casting, Andrea now seems to have rectified the problem, and this has now become one of the most popular busts in memory.

Thanks guys for the kind words. I hope that seeing the popularity of this bust Andrea will continue to bring us some "Old Warriors". A lot more character in the face than with a younger knight.

Guy, you're right, that whitish beard really does give him a quality of aged wisdom. Keep up the great work on this one!

David ~ Christos ~ Jay ~ thanks guys for the kind words of encouragement.

I made some good progress today with dry-brushing the helmet first with old silver mixed with a couple of drops of black and the final dry-brushing of brass.

Now I began the dry-fitting of the helmet to the head and the bust to the plinth after painting the plinth acrylic black.

I chose a metalic gray base I bought from Ron Saunders at last June's Tulsa Show for the wood base and dry-fitted the complete bust and plinth to the base. I have ordered the brass plaque for the front of the base.

The next step is the belts and straps as well as the sword that attaches to the back. These items I gave a second coat to, today.

Love the way this is looking,Guy.
The metallic gray base really compliments the metals you've painted on this bust.
The face is great! and unfortunately for me it resembles too much what I saw in the mirror this morning.;)
Looking forward to the finished piece.Cheers.

This is really great, Guy! I love the aged war-weary look. I've never done a bust before; I think this one is going to make me take the plunge.

John, Glen and Marc. Thanks for the kind words. The "Old Crusader" is finished and I now await the brass plaque to install to the base before I mount him permanently to the base. Here are a few photos of the finished results.
