Actually playing around in the weeds is a lot of fun.In addition to the old Husky-chewed brush for the tall grass,I also used some dried out dill weed and a few items from plastic artificial floral arrangements . The weeds are HO train stuff some of which has been sprayed with yellow ochre to give it a Fall look.I have noticed here in Canada in November some grass and weeds can remain quite green in color right up to the first snowfall.I will work in a little brown pastels of various shades between the weeds to represent a more earthy soil.I haven't yet decided how far I will extend the weeds along both sides of the edge.If anyone,especially the RR guys have any ideas of how I can improve the look ,please advise.Maybe it is time for another trip to the hobby store RR section to see what I can find.

Dirt road out back.
I want to put a dirt road in this area with grass and weeds on either side.My hobby store guy is a pretty experienced RR modeler.He suggested using dirt and stones gathered outside,so I spent the day sorting through soil and various sizes of stones.(I think the neighbors think I went nuts over the winter and the rocks belong in my head!)
I will heat everything in the BBQ tomorrow to kill any critters that may be lurking about.(don't ask me how I will explain cooking dirt!)Once clean I spread this over the road area which has already been prepared with white glue,brushed on full strength.After adding the dirt and some small rocks,I will then spray on some alcohol as a water tension breaker .Then I will take some diluted white glue,about 60% glue 40% distilled water and wet down everything with a drop- by -drop eyedropper until quite wet.Evidently I can keep adding layers until I am satisfied .When the whole thing is still a little mushy I am supposed to run a tire through to create tire tracks.Hope this works!

Looking good so far. Since you incorporate a horse in your diorama you could add some animal droppings...

In the next few pics I want to give you guys a idea of where I am now with this diorama.The overall size is 4 feet X 5 feet X 18 inches high(plus windsock).I have pretty much taken over the whole downstairs with this project.Luckily I have an understanding wife!

It's magnificent mate. In the last photo, there is a very obvious seam line running from the rear corner of the shed under the towed fueselage to the edge.

I'm sure you'll fix it, you have such a amazing eye for small details.

Love the crossed spanners on the roof.
