    Hi guys

I can't wait to show you what's just arrived today. It's Naked Army's 315mm (1/6th scale) Australian Mounted Field Artillery Trooper, 1918.

These first pics show the raw figure kit as it comes out of the box. It is cast in white polyresin, and as always is superbly sculpted. The only assembly required is glueing the right arm into the shoulder recess and the helmet onto his knapsack. The figure is holding an apple in his right hand, presumably to feed one of the horses in his gun team.

There is virtually no clean up required and the polyresin has enough texture that the figure doesn't require priming. I intend to paint him in acrylics, and use oils over acrylics on the flesh areas and on the leather riding gaiters.

I'll do an SBS and post new pics when I complete each stage of the painting process.

    Cheers

That is a beautiful looking figure. The attention to detail is amazing, for example the stitching on the cuff.
Looking forward to seeing this getting painted up.

    Roger, Jose Luis,

I'm glad you like him. I'm totally addicted to these Naked Army figures now (this will be my fourth) and I have plans to do many more. Hopefully I can encourage a few of my fellow Planeteers to have a go at one. They are truely amazing works of art.

    Cheers

    Roger, John, T50 and Stephen,

Thanks for your comments guys. I agree that the sculpting on these figures is awesome. My rough pics don't really do them justice - they are so much more impressive up close.

I stayed up late last night and painted the first two coats of acrylic on the flesh areas (Vallejo Orange Brown).

My wife and kids are going to stay with my brother in law until the weekend, so with these distractions out of the house, I should make some good progress on this figure over the next few days.

    Cheers

    G'day bro,

I've resisted the urge to modify my Naked Army figures so far (although it is tempting). I have a mate whose Great Grandfather served in the AIF Field Artillery in France, and I was thinking of giving this figure to him when I'm finished. I can't wait to see what you've done with your figure. I'm looking forward to seeing the pics.

    Beautiful figure,Tony.
I look forward to seeing you bring out the best in it.
Could you also explain how starting a new figure gets the wife and kids outta the house cos I'm obviously doing something wrong.

They probably realised that I would be locked in my hobby room for the next couple of days anyay, and decided to go to the beach instead. Thanks for your comments mate.

    Undercoating

    Hi guys

After a solid 4 hour session tonight I've undercoated the tunic, trousers, undershirt and flesh areas in Vallejo acrylics.

Its so hot in Perth at the moment that the paint is drying in the bottle and clogging the neck. I squeezed too hard when trying to pour the English Uniform colour out and the contents of the bottle exploded all over me and my hobby room.  I've just spent the last hour trying to wipe down the walls and clean up all the paint on my workbench. Does this mean I qualify for a Purple Heart?:D

I'll keep you posted on my progress and provide some details on paint colours etc when the undercoating is complete.

    Cheers
