Sorry Angelo have to be nasty ... but the eight pointed cross or what is sometimes refered the Maltese cross was not used by the hospitallers in the crusades, and not on military uniforms, it appeared mainly from early 16c onwards when the Knights were granted Malta by King Charles V of Spain. During Crusdaes in the Middle Esat it was more typical to see early period Plain Latin Cross and later Cross potance [with serifs at the edges] and during that time Knights were granted also a red field.

Hope this little history will help you for future projects, again do not get me wrong for critisizing but I feel bad not helping you out ...
