The figure is based on one of many wartime photographs of the 22nd.The straps/belting for the knapsack look as if the sculptor has little or no knowledge of their construction. However, they can be easily corrected.~Gary

Sure looks that way. Since they had a photo to go on at least for the front I wonder what the back might be like?

In common with so many recent releases from Andrea I think the sculpting on this is relatively crude, overall just lacking in finesse (although I realise this is quite small, look at what others can do in 1/35 and even in 1/48 scale). Case in point is the flaps(?) detail on the drum - way overscale and facing the wrong direction too (were these moveable?)

The over-sharp creases also bother me, but I think this is a new trend so it could fall under the 'style' exception.

    still, I like the drummer.
I think the flaps are moveable but there 's some crudeness as you call it. Also there are to many lines in the face. I would like it a little bit more smooth

Einion, I guess I went a little easy on this one. The last time I posted comments on a figure's uniform and the way it looked I ruffled some feathers.~Gary

    Hello,

Definitely I do not like the label they have bestowed on the ACW figure - "Drummer "? If this is really the actual label, it is extremely loose, the more so having in account the figure is not wearing a typical, mainstream, outfit - to the contrary, it is a very specific militia-type uniform.

I have to say a lot of figures present shortcomings on their back side, and usually this is because the modeller worked from just a frontal image, and did not bother to complement it with further research - instead he took some details from other plates showing back details (which may well happen to be incompatible) or just made up the details. I can not comment on this particular one because I have not seen its back, but judging from how have they managed the front, even having a photograph as a basis, one can harbour bad feelings about the back part.

    Hi again,

I have seen the drummer labelled elsewhere as "Tambor Guerra Civil Americana, 1858", ("Drummer, ACW, 1858") which is not much of an improvement, and it is not even coherent. :-(

1858? I always thought it was between 1861 and 1865.

Thought that myself but thought I'd let someone else take that ball and run with it. I guess it can be considered a miniature typo of sorts.~Gary
