Brush problem

I've been using Miniwarpaint Kolinsky brushes for some time now ,but they've developed a single hair sticking out at the very tip of the brush.I can only see it under magnification, but it's a real pain when you want to paint very detailed work,as the single hair is the first thing that touches the surface youre working on e.g. an eyeball for instance .I had the same problem with a W&N series 7 brush a few years ago,I snipped off the offending hair and the brush was totally ruined as it just splayed out the rest of the brush.Has anyone else had a similar problem, and if so, is there a way to rectify it without ruining the brush.

Cut it avoiding totouch all the others, under magnification, with a scalpel

the same here. I trough them away. But the prices of the miniwarpaint are almost the same as serie 7. And they are difficult to buy these days.

I have seen the same 'problem' with every brush maker out there.
It's frustrating because paint will also dry very fast on this single hair.
Under very high magnification, I will cut this single one using a very sharp blade.
Brush will behave much better after the small surgery.

Used the scalpel and it worked to a certain degree, but from now on I'm just going to use synthetic brushes,as when they stuff up its just a bin job. Thanks for all your input lads

For what its worth. I first purchased a set from John at the last Euro held in Folkestone. Since then they are the only brushes I use now. Very happy with them & the price.

I think we've probably all had this problem, a nod to Brian for highlighting it. When an otherwise good brush has a single hair that wants to do its own thing. I've successfully used a small nail clipper for this issue. We've probably all got one lying about somewhere anyway.
I sometimes worry when I get this as it may be a precursor to the brush 'going turkey' and completely failing.
And yes, Hawk brushes are excellent. John isn't paying me (hint, hint!);)

I only pay those who paint my box art and then that is usually in paintbrushes :)
