I really like the senator and the old fisherman. Both full of character.

Is there a figure committing seppuku to go with the Kaishakunin?

Yes there is.Although it is somewhat problematic. He is sitting crossleged, not in seiza as would have been the case. The set of both figures had originally been released by the sculptor on ebay.

Stepan's works totally rock.I have the fisherman (bought from the Miniwarpaint/Scalebro site a couple of years ago),will add the the indian/canoe vignette at some point.Great to see that it is available on Fabrizio's site.

I like the Indian in the "Long Journey Home". A pitty that it's only a 1/30 scale figure... My eyes can't handle such small scales anymore...

And I like the old fisherman! A pitty that it's only a 1/30 scale fugure...

Do you know that in those parts of the world they use the birds to fish for them?

    Cheers!

If I recall, there was a figure released, about 7 or 8 years ago, of a samurai kneeling at the ceremonial table, in preparation for the ritual. That figure might work with this one. If I can find a picture, I'll share it back here. I'm not sure about the scale, though; it might be 75mm, not 54mm.

    Prost!

I found the picture I was thinking of; maybe this will jog someone's memory about the maker, whether it's available, and whether it's the same scale/size to work with this figure.

I saw this at least back in 2017, and perhaps a year or two earlier. Now that I think of it, I don't know for certain that it was released. But I suspect that it was. I got this either here in PF, or in the now-defunct TimeLines forum, in a "new product" post.

Anyway, hopefully this is useful to the discussion.

    Prost!

That's actually a really cool figure. Some neat effects could be done on the kimono and the reflecting pool. Total Zen required.

The original releases were as pictured below. The sculptor initially traded them all by himself on ebay(as Subzero Miniatures) and other platforms before giving the rights to Scalebro. It remains to be seen if they are going to put the sepukunin to production.Personally ,although a samurai fanatic,I have never purchased the set (which the creator used to market for quite a competitive price) as I found the cross-legged position of the sepukunin (as opposed to the correct seiza posture ) and his exaggerated abdominals quite distasteful.

PS: Different fencing style schools (ryu) used to have their own distinctive Kaishakunin cuts so the posture of the "one who helps" (kaishakunin) is not open to criticism but almost invariably a Kaishakunin would position himself slightly behind the Seppukunin's left side, not the right. It is almost quite certain that a man performing kaishaku (a service of extreme responsibility that could bring extreme honor or disgrace to the one performing it) would have taken all the necessary precautions not to mess things up,by tying up his sleeves and tugging the ends of his hakama (skirt type trousers) under his obi (outer sash)
