    Good Day All,

I have started the first of two figures for a small vignette I plan on making of the hedgerows in Normandy. I am using Alpine Miniatures for the figures. I just got this started yesterday, and wanted to share my progress as this comes along. Pictures are poor, but it is the best I can do. I would appreciate any suggestions or feedback you have to improve this project.

    Thanks, Rusty

I got the face painted on this figure today. I used a different method than I have used before. I blocked in the highest highlights and darkest shadows first. Then I "wet blended the base into the two extremes. I liked the way it turned out, so I will try that method again.

Thanks gentlemen for the comments. Mike it has been a coons age. I started painting again a couple of months ago. I am enjoying it, so I hope to keep up the momentum.

Here is the completed first figure. I am not sure about the M44 pattern on the trousers. The right knee area looks odd to me. It reminds me of the those color vision test with the dots and the numbers. I am color blind and when I look at them I get lost. I had the same lost feeling painting the trousers. I am pretty sure the second figure will have field gray trousers.

    Thanks, Rusty

Suggestion: cover his knee up with dirt if you're not happy with it. Find a garden and crawl about for ten minutes. See how bogging filthy the knees of your trousers are after that. :)

    Rusty -- what Warren said.
It's absolutely true. The camo is extremely well done. As is the face.

Here is my attempt at creating the bocage. I have to add some color to the grass and some more weeds in the foreground.

    Good Day All,
I finally got back to work on this project. I have laid the basic camo pattern down. I still have a lot of detail work to do on the smock, adding seams and highlights, etc. As always I am open to suggestions and critiques.
