    Hi Kev,
Saw your latest update on the 23rd Officer.
A couple of points you may wish to look at:- I can only refer to Carl Franklin's Book British Army Uniforms 1751 - 1783 including the Severn Years War & A W I.
    1. The P of W feathers on the shoulder/ breast plate appear to be Silver.

2.Completely new to me I thought it was much later. The silk flashes worn at the back of the Collar, I quat from the Book." A unique feature of this regiment is the wearing of the 'flash' a spray of five black ribbons worn at the back of the collar to prevent the powdered queue bag from soiling the coat. At the time of the Revolution all officers commonly wore it."
    Will leave it with you.

Easy fix on epaulettes and belt plate when being painted

The flash ......clearly states it being worn by Officers ....so .......

    Stay tuned

Done a little more digging around ref the flash

Found this , slightly later of course about 1799/1801 but clearly shows it being worn

    The Flash

The Flash is a regimental distinction of the Royal Welch Fusiliers that is shared by no other regiment in the British Army. It dates back to the early 18th century when soldiers wore their hair in a braided queue which was held in a bag to avoid the grease soiling the back of the uniform coat.

The wearing of the queue was abolished by 1808, yet the Royal Welch Fusiliers ignored the order to remove the five black ribbons from the collar of their coats. As they were stationed in Nova Scotia at the time, there was little notice taken of their disobedience, but on returning to England in 1834, an inspecting General ordered the ribbons removed, and an appeal was made by the regiment to King William IV. In the same year the Royal Welch Fusiliers were granted the right to wear "The Flash" as a regimental distinction and have worn it ever since.

    Hi folks

Today I will be adding the flash at the rear of the collar using this reference ....note the ends are not angled as in later versions but might add a slight slant

    IMG_4847.JPG

Also repainting the POW feathers on epaulettes and the belt plate

...then the rest of the goldy bits

    Stay tuned

    Happy benchtime

Hi all late to the thread, have been reading with interest.

Nap your doing a fantastic job on him, putting your own stamp as it were good to see all the various info you managed to get. When we set out to do him. We had info from some of our American friends who gave us lots of variety with regards to the head ware. You managed to get even more so well done on that.

Mike, we sent all the info we had at the time to Offo who had basically completed him, he then added more parts like the rosettes on the neck plate plus other parts. So he did listen and did deal with the info we gave him the only thing he did not do was embossing on the Belt buckle which could be painted on. We do our best to get things right. We use the information we can gather.

Our customers seem to be very happy with what we have produced and so are we. I’m sure many companies have the same issues and people find out more about the subject.

Happy modelling keep up the good work Nap it’s looking great.

Very nicely done. I am tempted to do a full figure in 200mm, but I doubt there would be a market for it.
