    hello friends...

I'm back working on a new project... an officer of the 4th Light Dragoons inspired by the attached painting.
This is a project a bit out of my comfort zone, mainly due to the documentation I have in hand which is not as complete as for the Napoleonic subjects.

    b.png

The entire project was developed using Figurinitaly brand components; the horse is No. 3 with a different head (also Figurinitaly).

The human anatomy parts come from this range as the hands and the head

    DSC_5280.JPG

The cuts on the legs of the horse are due to the fact that I inserted metal pins to give structure even though the figure is mainly made of resin.

I started sculpting the legs with magic sculpt

I will appreciate any help with the uniform, monograms on the saddle and any other details to add to the pictures below.

Wonderful Ivo. I will be interested in seeing how you deal with the ostrich feathers on the shake.

I'm sure this will turn out as another great figure. Glad to see someone sculpt/produce figures from a neglected period (1820-1840)--ornate uniforms but, as stated, not a lot of documentation re: them.

    Hi Ivo,

Here's a couple of images I could find in my library. Apparently, there were few changes in the horse equipment between 1815 and 1854, so most of what you see here would also be true for the 1840s.

    Light cavalry saddle, soldiers (1815):

Bridles (light cavalry is top left):

    4th Light Dragoons Officer's bridle (1854):

    4th Light Dragoons Officer's uniform 1820:

    4th Light Dragoons Officer's shako:

    4th Light Dragoons uniforms (1854):

    Hope some of this helps
