Just starting out on this one, and trying to get the hang of painting with acrylics.

    Hi!
Has it been released yet? It doesn't appear on his website.
    It's an excellent figure.

    Cheers,

    Francisco

I'd love to know where you got your copy from, as I can't seem to find it available on the Model Cellar site, or any other sites for that matter (or at least from the vendors I usually patronize).

I picked it up from them directly at the MFCA show in the spring; not sure if it was only available at the show. Maybe try emailing them directly?

Thanks Matt. Maybe they'll be at MSSI Chicago in a few weeks, and I can pick up a copy then. Cheers!

    Hi Matt,

First, thanks for your patronage and for buying our figures. I hope you like the quality of the figure and the casting. You are off to a great start with the painting. The head and helmet look great. I'll be watching this thread closely to see more painting. Can't wait to see it completed =).

As Matt indicated I had a few "preview castings at MFCA" (see my MFCA preview thread here: MFCA Preview #2 | planetFigure | Miniatures). There you can see some pics of the castings. I hope to have it productionized (along with others) and in the catalog soon. But I've just been swamped lately and can't seem to keep up. Hopefully I can get a little closer to almost being caught up soon. I'll post an announcement when it's ready. Keep checking our website.

Other than a rat or two, this will be a solo figure, a solitary moment.

I'm working with ScaleColor acrylics and feeling out colors as I go. Their Pastel Blue seems to be a good central color for the horizon blue, so I am mixing shades up and down from that, adding Prussian blue and umber for shades, and a lighter blue/white for highlights. I'm going to try Mike (The Kiwi)'s stippling for the wool as he has outlined in his new book. We'll see how it goes. I'm not super happy with it so far. I know I could do it with oils pretty quickly, but really want to master acrylics as a medium unto themselves.

This is a great sculpt, i like it a lot. You can put it in a nice surrounding/set up/diorama.
Good luck with this one, will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Tried a light mist with the airbrush to smooth out the gradient on the blue. It’s starting to look better to me, less harsh. I think I may need to touch a few highlights and shadows with the brush again.
