    Hi jimz66,

Thank you very much :). I don't, I would spend all my time trying to to film and edit my videos instead of what I like doing which is sculpting. I have an Instagram account where I do post some short videos if you're interested?

    Hi Chris,
I hope you and all the family are well mate.
Thought it was about time I chipped in on this superb piece.

You have captured something in clay, especially the face that is very reminiscent of the work of Harry Payne.
If Harry Payne could have sculpt, then he would have sculpted this in exactly the same style.
I cannot think of a more fitting compliment.
    cheers

    Hi Chris,
Your work is famous. Great body position, facial expression and even more great historical period. I want to paint this. It will be an absolute pleasure to paint this figure. I'll have to check out the official release...

    Hi Richie,

My family are all doing well, I hope you and your family are also well my friend.
Forgive my ignorance, but I needed to look up who Harry Payne was. I am very humbled that you're comparing my work to his. As I have said before Richie, I'm just wanting to improve from one sculpting project to the next. Hoping I contribute to the hobby in some way so artists such as yourself get some joy from my work :)

    Warm Regards
    Chris

    Hello Milan,

Thanks so much for your kind word's, I'm glad you're liking this sculpt so far. It's definitely looking like it will be commercial once I'm done sculpting him. So I better keep up to my end of the bargain and keep pushing the clay around ;)

    Cheers
    Chris.

It's been a little while from my last post. I've been making some progress, but needed to review the button's.
I decided that whilst the idea to create a curve by using a curved template was a way around it, using epoxy wasn't the best option. The epoxy didn't have a nice crisp edge like a button, so it wasn't going to be convincing enough.
So I decided to go back to the brass idea, but this time use a hard epoxy putty called Geomfix from Sylcreative as the template. I then used a larger diameter to punch out the button's. Then using a metal round stylus which I had used to make the template in the first place, punched the shape into the brass which produced a nice curved button shape. I think it's definitely an improvement, what do you guy's think?[IMG]

This is wonderful work and the attention to detail and re-doing things just to get them 100% really shows that you want to produce a quality figure, it's a pleasure to watch this progressing, totally inspirational.

I've added those brass buttons on to the torso along with some added details to the tunic and some extra body around the shoulder and straps. I'll now get back to the plaid.[IMG]

It's only a shame you have him in what looks like a modern knife pleated kilt. For the 42nd it should be a 5 to 7 yard box pleated kilt. Regimental highland dress is a minefield for the unwary. Only the 92nd at that time had knife pleated kilts.

    Hello Bundook,

I agree it certainly can be, and I'm by no means an officianado on this subject. I'm only going by the references and information I've been given. As far as I've been made aware, the knife pleat is correct.

    Regards
    Chris.

Thanks so much Merryweather, yes, that is the sash. Just a little bit of a type of cross-hatch pattern to create the texture :)
