I just washed and rinsed the model of Ch’n-Han 75mm one of the Five Cyclones from
Modeland .it As I’m new to working with miniature figures I wanted to confirm my thoughts on the building before priming. I was thinking of doing sub-assembly on the figure as I see from the pictures the arms will be close to the body which will make painting a completed figure difficult. Look forward to your feedback

    Pictures! Pictures! :D

Yes, you've got the right idea. I'll do as much assembly as I can, without interfering with painting details

    Prost!

Thanks Brad. I had trouble uploading a photo because it was too big. Trying to figure out how to minimize it from my iPhone photo library. I think I might have figured it out 85089743-2B5A-414A-896D-32700C3E6CEE.jpeg

    Hi Anne

Being a bust only painter ...of sorts ! ......I make up bust fully after washing , drying and priming in a Matt black spray and then mounting on the actual base

Nice picture of the resin , looks detailed

Look forward to more on the WIP ....why not start a thread in VBench

Always happy to help ref pics or anything else

    Happy benchtime

This piece didn’t come with a base. Will hopefully be getting one soon. Thanks for your tip I’ll post on VBench sometime this week

    Hi, Anne, no sweat!
From a look at the kit, it looks like it's been engineered to allow for painting some bits separately and then attach them relatively simply. The arms, for example-the right one can be attached once that sleeve is finished, and the left one looks like the seam was placed with care to put it along a natural horizontal detail. You're on the right path with your idea.
    Prost!

I’m coming into the homestretch on the figure I’m working on and I’m curious if anyone uses a matte spray to seal the deal so to speak to keep the figure looking good

I do. I use Testors dull cote on a slightly warm figure. Completely matte when dry.

Steve, what do you do to get the figure slightly warm? I haven’t heard of this before
  10. sd0324 PlanetFigure Supporter

I warm it up slightly in an open crock pot that "disappeared" from the kitchen to my work bench at a low setting while the can is warming in a bowl of warm water. I know this sounds crazy but it dries really matte.

This figure looks like it would be terribly fun to paint.

Capt’n it’s been not too bad although the straps around the legs were a bit challenging
