Great work, I like how the dress is flowing, and the pose is full of action and tension.
Two observations, if I may. Will you "bulk up" the thighs, they look a bit thin? And are you going to add shoes/sandals/boots, as the feet look a bit big? That may be the angle of the picture though, it's hard to tell on a phone screen..

Bit more sculpting this weekend of female figures for the Boudicca scene. The hands and feet need a bit more work, not easy to get right in any scale.
Changed Boudicca, now holding a spear and thanks to Tia Wilkinson for hand modelling for one of her daughters.

    Hi Marcus

A rousing clapping from me ...not easy to do , all credit to you ...a lot of work and now it's coming together , like the details your adding to each ( personally not sure about the feathered helmet but it does add movement )

Hope you've got your brushes ready

    Thanks for the pictures

    Happy benchtime

Great fun to watch this progress. I think your heroic vision of her as dying in battle is spot on! Do you plan to add some anger to the faces as it seems that she wouldn't have died such a death with a simple smile on her face. Defiant to the very end! Absolutely love your work so far. Can't wait to see the painting begin.

Thank you, a huge learning curve on this project with the sculpting, not everything is perfect and reworked a few items several times. But it’s only me I’m competing with on that front. :)

Thank you mate. The feathers are an extravagance but hope they look plausible. I had the idea from a Celtic war chief ceremonial helmet, and thought a high status female out for revenge, would be a mixture of beauty and warrior princess.

Thank you. This is a vision thing for me. I like the ideas mixed with historical detail I can incorporate. I agree about the face, so changing it to an angry look, but struggling to get it right at the moment. But it’s a learning curve, so having a rethink and hopefully fourth time lucky this weekend.

Playing around with the detail around the base of the chariot. I want to show a scene of cluttered carnage as I imagine the final stages of the battle. So made another Celtic shield and added some detail on the swords.

Working the hands of the youngest daughter who I’ve changed to playing the Carnyx horn signalling to rally the remaining warriors to the Queen’s aid.

    Hi Marcus

WOW! ...that is certainly a carnage .............like the Roman under chariot ...the shield on top works well .....allowing for base !

    Like the carynx works well

Looking closely at the chariot ..it's a cracking piece of modelling

So much detail to look at in a quite tight area which helps the story

    ...another winner mate

    Bring on the primer !

Thank you mate, still a few bits to sculpt and can’t get Queen Boudicca face right at the moment. The Dead Roman is a full figure under the chariot, I need to add some studs to his sandals and chin strap, but apart from that he’s done.

Great work Marcus, the added detail really brings out the cluttered carnage of a set battle like this.
I really like that you have the other daughter using the sword with both hands, but I think it would work better if she is facing away from the chariot so to speak, as she is using her sword in a defensive posture.
I also like the Romans head dangling of the chariot.

    Looking forward to more progress.

Great to see such committed scratch building, something you don't see much of these days. But time to get selfish - for me, it's always a case of where did you get the heads? I'm not too aware of many female heads on the market.

Thanks Henk, in medieval times the way the princess is holding the sword is an attacking jabbing motion called half swording. I figured that the Celtic swords tended to be much longer and would be heavier than the Roman Gladius, in the hands of a skilled swordswoman would still be heavy requiring additional support for certain movement as I’ve depicted.
