I thought that I'd separate this from my Christmas Truce thread where i did show some earlier progress shots. It's just about finished, ready for figures. Here is progress on my German base. The camera doesn't pick up the true colour of the soil, which is a mixture of gloss and matt.

Nice addition of small plants showing age of trench line.
What else needs to be done?

I've been tinkering with my base by adding some wet footprints and also a ladder which I copied from the image which inspired this figure. (See image below). Hopefully you can spot that the ground is a mixture of gloss, satin and matt? It looks better to the naked eye when you can move and catch the bits that shine.
I've created a 'sky' background for my photos. I don't have the second figure yet but I will be adding another. I should start on the figures now!

I couldn't resist adding some dandelions to the base. They are laser-cut leaves from Fredrikus Rex with home-made flowers. The yellow flowers will complement the yellow in the soldier's helmet. I usually try to add a bit of colour to liven the bland palette of WW1. Most images of WW1 just show mud as if plants stopped growing for four years - They did not!

Perfect timing, just treated myself to a couple of 120mm WW1 figures and there is certainly insperation in seeing your work, very realistic groundwork and weathering, looking forward to seeing the painted figure.
