Don't know what I have got myself into

So after having 35 years off from painting figures thought I would try and get back into it and from what I read people seem to say pick a subject you like, for me that is fantasy and sci-fi. I already build 1/35 armour and diorama's

So these arrived this morning along with some new brushes that I will just use for figures and not my models. Brush wise I bought a selection of rosemary & co some of the 33 range and some of their cheaper ranges to use first along with some major brushes.

Still wating on my paint decided to go for the AK Gen 3 along with some of the dense tube acrylics
The reason for buying these is AK have their black Friday deal on 25% off so it let me buy a few more paints

So these look really scarey :) but looking forward to jumping in with both feet and getting it wrong :)

    Hi Tony

You certainly jumped in with these , one thing for sure the casting and quality will be really good

They aren't my thing but my suggestion is enjoy and learn , one at a time ! .....start a V bench ( I can move this thread if you wish )

Take your time prepping etc ....plenty of help avail here on PF

You can always strip with Dettol again !

Good selection of brushes as well ( excellent service no doubt from Rosemary and Co )

    Following with interest

    Happy paint purchasing as well

Well Tony you have gone for a couple of nice figures from Nuts that will be great quality and cleanly cast, I haven't used this brand of Brushes but many of the PF painters do use them, the paints should be okay too and coming from an AFV modeling background you should certainly have the knowledge to turn out a good enough result, so Attack, Attack, Attack!
Look forward to seeing how you get on.

Thanks for the encouragement Terry. Had a look and to be honest they are scaring me so have taken a bit of a swerve and picked this up from an auction FB page I am member of cost me £12 unpainted and even if it was I have dettol here to strip it so will start my journey with this one and hopefully find a painting guide for it so I can see some diferent techniques.

I picked up a couple of Rosemary rounds, a 2 and a 3, last Saturday at the Long Island show, along with a pair of ZEM 1 rounds. The seller offered them for five bucks apiece, so I couldn't pass them up. I've never used either brand before, so I'm curious to see how they hold up, and I'm curious to hear about your experience with them, too.
I look forward to seeing your build blogs with these figures. Remember that practice makes perfect, don't get discouraged if your work doesn't look like the box art right away, and, you can always strip 'em and start over, if you like. Practice, practice, practice!

    Prost!

You have been given good advice and I can't improve on it. I think your decision to start with a simpler figure is the right one. Good luck with your projects.

You should be more than happy with the Rosemary 33s, have a few myself and think they'll be my forever brushes. Hard to beat the price/quality ratio, just take good care of them. Have fun, take your time and ask away, someone is bound to offer two or three cents on just about any topic.

Enjoy what you are doing and have fun. It can be a frustrating hobby at times but small successes make it all worthwhile. :)
