Another excellent pair of figures Peter - I'm in agreement with Henk re a potential base, a bunker or armoured cupola with some grass would set them off brilliantly.

Warren and Chris - Many thanks. I will work on the base at some point, though I think an armoured cupola is beyond me.

At first: Congratulations for this fine result. As said before a distinctive painting style that works very well and is easily recognized.
About some errors of the given setting I wanted to keep my mouth shut but before you finally will be convinced to create an Eben Emael bunker I would like to point out that the troops conducting the raid on Eben Emael were highly specialized engineers that were issued several distinctive items and explosives that set them apart from regular Paratroops. In the first place the entire Sturmabteilung Koch received in advance of the raid on Eben Emael and some bridges in the Netherlands and Belgium specially camouflaged helmets that were daubed in paint mixed with cork to conceal the shape of the helmet but most probably even more to confuse the enemy troops. There are indications that the gliders that landed on top of Eben Emael did not even bear the German cross that would have identified them as enemy forces.

In difference to the smocks worn by the figures (so called second model that could be buttoned between the legs) the glider borne troops at Eben Emael wore earlier versions (so called first model that had a step-in design) - mostly without pockets and pocket flaps - therefore if pockets were added individually you could see their zippers. Last but not least no knee pads were worn because the troops were landed by gliders. After the raid pictures of all surviving members of the unit were taken - therefore their gear and equipment is well documented - no exceptions.

Nevertheless your pair makes a great set of German Paras at Crete or Greece 1941 without any changes.
    Very nice job!(y)

    Cheers, Martin

Thanks for that Martin. I'm not one for extensive research, as you can tell.

I've stuck them on a base that places them somewhere in the world at least:

    Evening Peter

Great base and an excellent finish to the 2 fallshirmjagers.

Always good to see your completed work and more to come next week?

I have a glider in the post for a 1/35 Eben Emael scenario as a retirement project, so the references are well received as I didn't realise the bone sacks were Mk 1.

Enjoy your next project and the warmer weekend

    Regards

Steve H - Cheers. I've actually put them back on the plain base as I feel they look much better that way - just a question of personal taste As always with these things this would have benefitted from more research, but I never intended a wholly accurate rendering - just something that looked roughly alright. Next figure almost finished.

Steve R - As long as it is just the wife you say it to...... Glad you like these two.

Cheers Mike - we try to entertain. I try not to take this lark too seriously - friendship is more important.
