    Hi Folks

Bit of a verbal update , working on the barrel sash the green sections ......trying to get a slightly different colour to the main uniform

Need to check out a rear view of it a bit more as well

Pelisse now fully basecoated in red

Looking forward to painting the sabretasche

Will need to redo the MS straps on that and sword ..just won't sit right

Space in display cabinet ready , nameplate to be sorted from Nameit as normal

    Stay tuned

I love this project. It's looking great. Your reference material is also super interesting. Its very helpful to see the period paintings and the photos of the actual equipment.

    Hi Albert

Thank you finished off the barrel sash yesterday , the whole thing is coming along so much better now ....

Been a bit of a rocky road keeping the mojo on this

Will have a couple more " normal " busts on the go soon.

Couple of pics showing the completed barrel sash .....noticed a slight green mark on the gold at rear ...now gone !

Also primed the sabretasche ready for basecoating and painting .....looking forward to that

Also have replaced the putty waist belt with a lead strip ...I will use the same for the sword/sabretasche straps

    Happy day

    Hi Nap
it been a while since I looked in.. to be honest, I was a little sceptical about the horse and the wooden base, but I do admit it looks ok, and you are doing a grand job on the painting - coming along a treat, it certainly will be a unique piece.

here is a photo of how reins were held which may be useful:

    Hi Peter

Thanks for the comment , understand your thoughts about the base ....once I get the rider finished he will be put into place and I can fit the upper rein which will led to the gloved hand , the lower rein ( in gold ) will just sit on the leopard skin

Once rider is in place it fills the centre and brings the horse together ....The wood will be secured by 2 brass pins to a oval base

    Hi Folks

Always good to see versions of the original bust this is by Theodora's Giannakopoulos

    IMG_0151.JPG IMG_0152.JPG IMG_0150.JPG IMG_0165.JPG

    Update on my project

Now on a fine base custom made by PETE WATSON of Petes Bases

Positioned it at a slight angle to add movement to the look

Made a new waist belt and pic shows the sabretasche straps temporarily in position while fully drying ...they are now that ready for basecoating and painting

Also in place on the waist belt are the straps for the sword....currently drying ...and out of way from my hands !

    IMG_0096.jpg IMG_0099.JPG IMG_0098.jpg IMG_0097.jpg

Here's the sword painted prior to straps being fitted

    IMG_0094.jpg

Pelisse basecoated and lacework started , no metallics

    IMG_0095.jpg

    Stay tuned
