This is probably the last update before the final pics.
I purchased the backdrop materials and here I might have miscalculated a tiny bit. I thought the pieces were a4 sized but turns out they were slightly larger.

I now have enough PS for my next years, I guess...

I grabbed a piece of thin wood that was used to protect the ps sheets and a piece of ps to test them both. After cutting and priming I started blocking the colors:

    Testing:

I decided to paint the plinth black and painted the Ypê tree, one of the main national trees and also a staple in the region Lampião used to live

    Finally,
I started messing with the hands to give them more definition:

    Bonus post
After drinking a few too many glasses of wine I decided to glaze a bit of red on the nose and ended up being kind of heavy handed.

Now he's looking drunk, I'll have to fix it later this weekend.

Lovely painting of a very unique piece. Not so sure about the John Lennon glasses though.

The glasses have no lens, i just used some metallic paints and glazed a few inks to give it light/shadow definition!
Soon we'll cheer with some wine, i bet!

Thanks, Neal! I'm glad you're enjoying!

Thanks, Steve! I don't like the glasses that much, I think the model looks better without it, but it was the model used by Lampião in real life and the face was modeled with the glasses in mind.

    Cheers!

OK I see. I really like this piece and am considering purchasing the file to have one printed off. But the first example I saw on here didn't have the glasses, and I'd have to leave them off even if that meant slightly modifying the face. I just can't get past the John Lennon thing, I can almost hear him breaking into a chorus of "Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can".

Hahahaha I don't think fixing the face to paint it without the glasses is going to be hard. It's just that I had already painted the face!
I took 2 pictures showing what you'd need to change:

Just those small slots for the eyes, easy peasy

Thanks Lucas, much appreciated. I think that even I - with my limited conversion skills - can manage that. It makes such a difference.
