    here's my version of scientific models excellent bust of the old fisherman. I have painted figures / busts with acrylics since I started on busts about 7 years ago. bit whilst surfing on YouTube for face painting tutorials I came across a chap by the name of Milan dude who painted in Oils. After watching and re watching over and over I thought I would give it a go, my first go is only 1/9th Blondie hassler bust in his kayak. also have started on one of Micks Micks busts with the same technique;

    I have only primed the pieces with green shadows and buff highlights (airbrushed Tamiya ). Next will be the face and hands. Will also give painting the coat and hat in oils a go as well.

    Hi Steve

    Are you using Water Soluable oils or normal ?

    Milan's videos are really good

    Will you be painting all the pieces in oils or using Acrylics alongside ?

    Both the pieces have great character ....will you do a separate SBS for the Micks ?

    Following with interest

    Happy Oilytime

    hi, they are good old fashion oil paints. going to give a go painting the whole bust in oils, except maybe his sweater, think that would benefit more from acrylics and washes.

    yep will do a separate SBS for micks figure.

    thanks for looking in.

    Face looks fantastic Steve, nice work on the beard and eye brows. Hands are looking good, nice blending. I like what you've done with the jumper, but if possible, I'd tone down the gore around the neck, fish gutting mainly happens either in the lap, or on a table, at stomach height. Unless your fisherman gets fish with a chainsaw.. ;)
