    Morning all

Good to catch up and chat with some other PFers' at the recent Avon show (y) Already looking forward to Yeovil which will probably be the next one I get to.

One of the benefits of meeting up and seeing other folks work is the instant re-charge of the old 'Mojo batteries'. Despite good intentions i also picked up a couple of other figures (No fireman though to Kev's disappointment) :ROFLMAO:
Anyway back at the ranch rather than start painting one of the others in the grey army it was, of course, one of the new ones that had me gripped . . . It is another of the beautiful busts by Alexandros in 200mm 'scale'. I spent a bit of time sanding down the underside and carving around the tassels on the front of the bust so that they appeared more of a separate item, but there was very little clean up on the bust itself so it was very quickly out with the spray cans (Army painter black and a touch of Tamiya light grey from above)

I'll touch on the history of this fella later, but the flamboyance of the uniform will stand out nicely next to the Ney in the same range which I painted earlier this year.

I usually start with the largest areas of colour first rather than the face (I find this helps me get the colour balance of a piece right and since I tend to be a bit f a messy painter it stops any random brushstroke splashing onto the more delicate areas)

After a few sessions I've blocked in the white, dark blue and red, although I'll need to do a bit more on the white later today

    Cheers
    Paul

:ROFLMAO: I'm sure the one you'll find someone to take him off your hands eventually K

Happy to get you a pink cutting mat as well if you like:) (My supplier had them on special offer - can't imagine why. . . and you know how I like a bargain)

The uniform white is a cool one based on deck Tan and basalt grey and hopefully I'll manage to get a nice contrast with the white fur which I'll paint in a warmer white. There's also lot's of 'bling' to paint so I'll need to crack open the gold for that little lot! This fella certainly was a bit of a clothes horse when it came to fancy uniforms (possibly second only to Murat)

    Cheers

Shame about missing Avon - It was great to be out and at a show again. I'd not been before and it was bigger than I expected. Kudos to the organisers for taking the chance and pressing on with organising the show in the hope that it would be able to go ahead. Everyone seemed excited to be there and it was good to catch up with folks again. Look forward to having a natter at Yeovil if you get the chance

Good start there Paul and good to meet up with you at Thornbury, all being well I'll be able to make the Yeovil show, you never know between us we may be able to flog Kev's Fireman bust off for a fiver to some poor unsuspecting soul....all joking aside it's quite a nice sculpt for a fiver(y)
    Cheers

Hiya Jim nice to meet you too and have a giggle(y)
(Just love Lofty and S'arnt as did my good lady when I showed her pics of what you've done)

I'm sure by the time Yeovil comes 'round they'll be queuing up for a Fireman bust at a bargain price :D
If not I'll break open the piggy bank or perhaps I could swap it for a set of Mandan instructions and the kit base which are sitting at the back of the workbench ;)

    Cheers
