Hello folks,
I am starting a new project, i want it to paint this regiment for a while and chose to do it in 28mm.
This is my second time working with Black Hussar Miniatures from Germany, fortunate for me i have the US distributor ( Triangle Miniatures) in the same State i live.
I am painting this remarkable Swiss regiment in French Service , Disbach as they woukd have appear in the Seven Years war.
The regiment wore the traditiional Red coat typical of Irish and Swiss regiments in French Service and blue vest, pants and cuffs, the crissbelts were natural leather and cartirdge pouch was tanned or red leather, white gaiters.

I have cleaned andbprimed the figures in automotive self etching primer, undercoated the coats in white and used a mix of deep red from vallejo and a dab of Army painter pure red for the first batch.

I've received another 6 fusiliers 2 dats ago.
This time i decided to try something different , i have so many red bottles of paint and the idea behind using a different base color on some of the toopers is to break that "cookie cutter" effect of having every coat the same, they would have had worn out different for some troopers anyways.

Today i've received another batch of figures.
As usual, cleabed up the figure with scotchbrite pad and then let them soak in soapy water.
This batch includes standard bearers, 2 drummers , and officer and 2 french High comand.

Do you spray the primer on?

Yes, i've been using Automotive self etching primer, it works amazing with these minis.

I did "twist" one of the drummer's head a little to provide some sort of variation, and did the same with one of the standard bearers, but i don't want to mess with the drummer's arms since they are nicely done and have lace built on them.

I've made some progress on the high command and one officer.
I must say that the officer standing pointing it is one if my favorite figures from BH, definitely a great pose.
I did finished and sprayed with Matt varnish.

I am making one of the high command mounted figures as the Prince de Souvise, which was present at the Batrle of Rossbach ( 1757) and had the Rank of Leutenient -general , he was appointed Marshall in 1758 despite the defeat suffered by the Imperial/French army at Rossbach agains the Prussians.
I did add greenstuff putty to the top of his hat to resemble the plumes typical of French high command.

I 've made a minor modification to the other mounted figure, in this case it will be a high rank mounted Swiss Officer, uniform was worn over a breastplate ( usually blackened) and his hat already has plumes, a little unusual for officers except when they had a high comission and they could afford all of the "finery" of these uniforms.
I've got rid of the collar flaps, the French uniforms started using rurndown collars or flaps after 1758, so, i did some "Tailoring" on it.

Very nice work and tight sharp painting - not always easy at this scale.

I have started to work on the drummers today.
I've layed the base colors for the coat.
This is one of the most controversial areas of the uniform research for this regiment's Musicians.
I want it to paint the coats in yellow with light blue facings, but that is for sure a chance that took place in 1763 onwards, i am depicting thos regiment at Rossbach in 1757, and Osprey book describe their livery in red , white lace, , red drum with hoops in red as well.
So, there is no more info than that, i decided to break from the usual that will be blue turnbacks, blue vest and pants.
In this case i decided to take the liberty of painting all red, since the sources do not specify anythimg and i've spent quite few hours researching this week.
I've learned that Foreign regiments in the French Army had some "freedom" to do as its colonel's "Like" , it seems to me that Frenchies were not really strict on uniform regulations till late after the Seven Year's war which saw a great deal of transformarion product of their bad perforrmance during the SYW.
