Did you ever get the feeling that some people are just too damn serious that they don't understand the difference between serious and humor. Don't be too serious ......It will eat you away....

No such thing as humour these days the Political correctness brigade and social media have sterilised it all........I still get some jokes via Whats app though.

You can still crack jokes about straight white blokes. But yeah pretty much everything else is off limits now it seems. Even if it's something you tweeted a decade or so ago, the offence archaeologists will soon dig it up and cancel you. Your right to amusement ends where their sensitive feelings begin.

They can cancel me if they like! (Maybe they already have) They can metaphorically throw my statue in the canal but they can't alter the fact I exist. The big question I always come back to is "who's behind all this stupidity?????"

It's a very small but extremely noisy and aggressive minority of cry-bully "activist" types espousing various trendy and "right-on" causes who have somehow been allowed to set the agenda and decide what represents acceptable discourse and what is now considered beyond the pale.

Unfortunately our craven and cowardly political, media, corporate, sporting and educational bodies & institutions have bowed down before them and embraced all their nonsense, which is why it's absolutely everywhere now. I just hope I'm around long enough to see the inevitable backlash and watch them sent packing.

Young black lad wearing a fur coat walks into a gay bar in Saudi Arabia and orders a scotch whisky from the 50 year old large breasted red haired irish barmaid.
How old are you? asks the barmaid.
    9 replies the boy.
Do you want to get me in trouble says the barmaid.
Get me my drink and we'll see how it goes he replies :D

Racism, Xenophobia, Misogynism, Homophobia, PETAist, religious intolerance, Ageism, Gingerism, Child exploitation, underage drinking...... I could probably identify a few other reasons for people to take offence.:D
The problem with some people who complain about the PC brigade taking offence at their attempts at humour is that they don't realise they're just not funny.
Others make controvertial comments and when it backfires hide behind the metaphorical 'PC pointed finger'
It's a very fine line nowadays.

Fair point Del. And a crap joke is a crap joke. But there's a difference between "not finding something funny" and "taking offence", and it seems that with each passing year we're seeing a lot less of the former and a lot more of the latter.

As for making "controversial" comments, we're now at the point where we're seeing new orthodoxies and received wisdoms imposed on society (all the "trans" dogma about some women having penises for example, or so-called "critical race theory" that regards our society as inherently and irretrievably racist) to the point where people taking a stand against them are being variously howled down, threatened, hounded out of their jobs or even investigated by the police for "hate speech". I find that all rather troubling.

Completely agree. All you need to do is look at the abuse J K Rowling has received from the luvvies in the film industry whose careers she has effectively created and who she has made extremely wealthy.
The point I was somewhat clumsily making is directed at those with extreme views who when 'called out' claim that comments or 'jokes' were taken out of context by those who don't share their views, but don't have the guts to stand their ground.
As for bad jokes I've got hours of them :D

Political correctness and my humor...? Oha!

Hummmm - I would say: My humor is so jet black that they would have sent it to the cotton fields 150 years ago ...:nailbiting:

And whether that is "politically correct", I sh... on it! :p I'm out of the age at which I have to prove something to anyone.

(In Germany the day before yesterday a top politician had to apologize publicly because she uttered the bad, bad "N-word" during a TV interview.
She did not use the said word herself, but quoted a line from a book in which it appears - to point out the racism in this book! But that did not matter! The "public concerned" loudly demanded kowtowing - and got it.)

Language, humor and - especially! - irony are increasingly becoming a "battlefield" over political sovereignty - and sometimes it seems to me that the one who shouts the loudest :arghh: always "wins".

Has everything happened here before: The Nazis also tried to tell their citizens what to say when and how - and with what words.:yuck:

    Cheers
